Description The City of Lee's Summit is seeking applicants to fill the position of Communications Specialist in the Police Department. This non-sworn position performs emergency call taking and dispatching of public safety units and involves multi-tasking activities in a fast paced, high volume, 911-dispatch center. Applicants must be able to work day, evening, and midnight shifts, including weekends and holidays. Experience in an emergency service field is desired, but not required.
Lateral applicants can be brought in above starting pay based on experience . Once hired, employees are given extensive training to meet the challenges of this position.
Requirements Must be 18 years of age at time of employment. High School Diploma or equivalent. Must be a United States citizen or authorized alien worker. Valid state Driver's License and acceptable driving record. No felony convictions or commission of or participation in any felony crime, whether detected or not. No on-going or repetitious history of committing or participating in Misdemeanor crimes, whether detected or not. Six months to one year of experience in a related field preferred, but not required. Must be able to pass pre-employment background check which includes a polygraph examination. Able to work assigned shift, including nights, weekends and holidays. Must have or be able to obtain REJIS and MULES Certification within six (6) months of hire. Must pass the required CritiCall testing. EEO
