The Contract Grant Writer is responsible for researching, writing, and preparing grant proposals to secure funding that aligns with The Blue Bench’s mission and programs. This role focuses solely on identifying funding opportunities and developing compelling proposals for submission. The Contract Grant Writer does not manage grants post-submission or handle ongoing funder relationships.
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:

Exceptional research and writing skills with the ability to craft persuasive and well-structured grant proposals.

Strong attention to detail and ability to synthesize complex information into clear, compelling narratives.

Proficiency in meeting tight deadlines and managing multiple grant applications simultaneously.

Experience in gathering and organizing supporting documentation for grant submissions.

Familiarity with nonprofit funding landscapes, including foundation, corporate, and government grant opportunities.

Ability to work independently while maintaining proactive and responsive communication with the Grants Management Team.

Technology acumen includes proficiency in Microsoft Office including Excel, data entry in project management software (Monday.com), and navigating grant research databases.

Commitment to The Blue Bench’s mission and dedication to addressing systems of sexual violence, an understanding of trauma informed care and the impact of sexual violence.
Essential Duties & Responsibilities:
Grant Research & Writing

Research and identify grant opportunities that align with The Blue Bench’s programs and funding needs.

Attend ad hoc meetings with Grants Management Team to vet grant opportunities, acquire needed information, discuss deliverables, etc.

Write, edit, and format high-quality grant proposals, ensuring clarity, accuracy, and alignment with funder guidelines.

Work closely with program staff to gather necessary data, statistics, and program descriptions for grant applications.

Prepare and organize all required documents for grant submissions, ensuring compliance with funder requirements.

Maintain an internal calendar of grant deadlines and submission dates.

Conduct research to identify new funding opportunities from foundations, corporations, and government sources.

Revise and update proposal templates to improve efficiency and effectiveness in future applications.

work closely with all departments to align proposals with organizational goals and funding requirements.
Qualifications:

Proven experience in grant research and writing, preferably in a nonprofit setting.

Strong written communication skills with the ability to tailor messaging to various audiences.

Ability to work independently, prioritize tasks, and meet multiple deadlines.

Familiarity with grant research databases and nonprofit funding sources.

Experience with government grant writing is a plus but not required.
