Lotus Seattle is seeking a dynamic and experienced On-Air Radio Host/Co-Host for KVI AM 570 Talk Radio.     The On Air Radio Host/Co-Host works under the supervision of the Program Director. The On Air Radio Host/Co-Host specializes in delivering live radio newscasts, prioritizing stories for air, and covering breaking news.  On Air Radio Host/Co-Host will be responsible for guiding live discussions, interviewing guests, and connecting with the audience through compelling storytelling and insightful dialogue. This role demands a creative, confident, and energetic individual who can drive conversation and deliver exceptional experience.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Host and Anchor: Lead live broadcasts, facilitate conversations, and maintain a vibrant on-air presence.
  • Interviewing: Conduct thorough research and engage interviews with guests, industry experts, and public figures.
  • Content Development: Collaborate with the production team to develop show segments, topics, and content strategies that resonate with the target audience.
  • Audience Engagement: Interact with callers, social media followers, and live audiences, ensuring their input is integrated into the show.
  • Script and Segment Preparation: Develop scripts, talking points, and segment outlines while remaining adaptable during live broadcasts.
  • Brand Representation: Uphold the show’s brand, tone, and values while representing the station in public appearances, promotional events, and community outreach.
  • Technical Coordination: Work closely with technical staff to ensure smooth transmission, addressing any on-air technical issues promptly.
  • Compliance and Ethics: Adhere to broadcasting standards, FCC regulations, and internal policies, ensuring content is both informative and respectful.

  • Adaptability: Flexibility to handle last-minute changes and adapt content in real-time.

Working Conditions:

  • Fast-paced, high-energy environment with live broadcasts and strict production deadlines.
  • Regular collaboration with a diverse team including producers, editors, technical staff, and sales team.
  • Occasional travel may be required for on-location events or special segments.

 Required Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

·         Bachelor’s Degree in Communications or related field.

·         Exceptional written and verbal communications skills.

·         Minimum of 5 years of professional experience is required; experience within the broadcasting industry is preferred.

·         Proven experience as a talk show host, radio/TV personality, or similar on-air role.

·         Strong public speaking, interviewing, and storytelling skills.

·         Strong MS Office skills (Power Point, Excel and Word) is required.

·         Excellent live reporting skills and strong on-camera presentation skills.

·         Able to work a flexible schedule, including early mornings, nights and weekends.

·         Ability to interact professionally and build relationships and sources.

·         Strong research skills, including the ability to navigate online search engines.

·         Excellent understanding of Associated Press style.

·         Ability to think quickly on your feet and handle unexpected situations during live broadcasts.

·         Demonstrated understanding of media ethics, regulatory requirements, and best practices in broadcasting.

Working Conditions and Travel Requirements

·         Five days in the office per week.

·         May require travel to station promotion events and/or high-profile news events.

·         Valid drivers’ license with good driving record.

 Compensation

$70,000-$85,000

Salary will be determined from an evaluation of the experience, education, and abilities of the applicant.
