JOB OVERVIEW
Conexus Indiana's vision is to affirm Indiana as the center of innovation and digital transformation for advanced manufacturing and logistics (AML). An initiative of the Central Indiana Corporate Partnership (CICP), Conexus is focused on achieving its vision through a mission to accelerate Indiana's advanced manufacturing and logistics industry success by engaging a diverse network of industry, academic, philanthropic and public-sector partners aligned and activated around a unified vision. The ideal Director, Public Relations will promote Conexus Indiana, its industry sector, and organizational objectives by executing strategies and tactics outlined in a strategic marketing and communications plan. This includes management of internal and external communications across multiple platforms and formats to drive engagement, participation, retention, and positive brand appeal and recognition. The Director, Public Relations reports directly to the Vice President of Communications and is a member of a small, multi-talented communications department. This position does not currently manage any direct reports but will assist in giving direction to the Senior Manager, Digital Media and to external contractors.
JOB RESPONSIBILITIES
Earned Media & Public Relations Leadership Own and manage the organization's earned media channel to drive visibility for Conexus Indiana and the AML industry. Cultivate and manage relationships with media outlets to secure press coverage for programs, events, announcements, and projects and Indiana's AML industry at large. Identify and pursue awards, speaking opportunities, and other public platforms to position Conexus Indiana and the AML industry as thought leaders. Partner with industry stakeholders to understand their communication needs and develop tailored strategies and tactics to support mutual goals. Prepare key executives and organizational spokespeople for media interviews, public speaking engagements and panel discussions through the development of talking points and media briefing materials. Messaging Strategy & Brand Voice
Oversee the development of consistent messaging frameworks and ensure a cohesive brand voice across all public-facing communications. Ensure all media and public relations materials align with organizational values and positioning. Campaign Development & Collaboration
Work closely with the Vice President of Communications and the Senior Manager of Digital Media to design and execute marketing campaigns supporting Conexus programs, products, and initiatives. Craft compelling messaging and materials for new and existing projects, programs, and events. Ensure alignment between public relations strategies and digital marketing campaigns to maximize impact. Manage relationships with external partners, including public relations firms and creative agencies, to support communication efforts effectively. Stakeholder Engagement & Reporting
Build and maintain strong partnerships with industry leaders and organizations to enhance collaboration and share-of-voice initiatives. Collaborate with the leadership team to develop internal and external reports showcasing progress toward organizational goals. Monitor and analyze the effectiveness of communications initiatives, adjusting strategies as needed to achieve objectives. Leadership & Support
Provide guidance and support to team members and partners in developing cohesive communication strategies and messaging. Work directly with senior leadership to elevate their public profiles through strategic media placements, speaking engagements and authored content. Ensure alignment of all communication efforts with the overall mission and vision of Conexus Indiana. Implement tools such as media monitoring services to measure media coverage, share-of-voice and overall PR performance. Manage and report against goals, priorities, and objectives to the Vice President of Communications. Proactively identify potential reputational risks and provide strategic counsel to leadership. Provide additional support to the Vice President of Communications as needed. JOB REQUIREMENTS
Bachelor's degree in Marketing, Journalism, Communications, or related field required A minimum of 5 years of experience in public relations, communications or marketing roles with demonstrably increased responsibility 2 years of experience in non-profit management, event and/or membership marketing preferred Exceptional written and verbal communication skills Demonstrated experience of working with earned media sources to secure high-value media placements Demonstrated experience tracking and reporting on earned media communications funnel Ability to develop and execute marketing/communications strategy Demonstrated track record of success in leading and executing ambitious strategic initiatives CORE ATTRIBUTES
