On the Books team, our mission is to inspire readers by making it easy to read more and get more out of reading. In pursuit of this, our 70+ person Research and Design Studio provides user research, UX design, and brand design for Kindle E-readers, Kindle apps, Author & Publisher tools, and book shopping experiences used by millions of readers and thousands of authors and publishers around the world.
We are looking for a Sr. UX Designer for Publisher Tools and Content Experiences to join our team in our downtown Seattle location. You will be instrumental in shaping the future of our next generation of tools and reading experiences. You will partner with another UX designer and researcher to reimagine and improve experiences across a suite of content-based features and book formatting tools (Kindle Create, Kindle Previewer, Kindle Online Previewer).
A successful candidate in this role will have a good balance of product design, interaction design, and visual skills across native and web-based app design. They will have experience working across the spectrum from vision building to feature creation in existing frameworks. Your work will help define experiences that connect author and publisher needs to shape the next generation of reading experiences. You will work with senior leaders, engineers, product managers, and design peers to gather research, develop concepts, create presentations, and deliver specifications for development that are beautiful, inclusive, and accessible. This is a high-visibility and collaborative role on a fun, passionate team of designers and cross-functional partners.
Basic Qualifications
6+ years of design experience
Have an available online portfolio
Experience with design tools such as Photoshop, Illustrator and InDesign and prototyping in HTML, JavaScript, CSS, Ajax
Experience in delivering design solutions for projects of large scope and complexity
Experience acquiring user data (e.g., conducting usability studies, performing user research) and creating personas and journey maps
Preferred Qualifications
6+ years of UX designer or interaction designer experience
Have an online portfolio or samples of work on resume, demonstrating experience creating great end-to-end, user-centered design solutions and patterns, across desktop and mobile devices
Experience working with stakeholders to plan and execute programs that are strategic in nature
Experience applying scrum to visual or UX design processes

Our compensation reflects the cost of labor across several US geographic markets. The base pay for this position ranges from $127,100/year in our lowest geographic market up to $211,600/year in our highest geographic market. Pay is based on a number of factors including market location and may vary depending on job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. Amazon is a total compensation company. Dependent on the position offered, equity, sign-on payments, and other forms of compensation may be provided as part of a total compensation package, in addition to a full range of medical, financial, and/or other benefits.
