This position is for JoyFoodSunshine (www.joyfoodsunshine.com), where we are passionate about helping chefs and bakers of all skill levels create easy and delicious meals and bakery-quality desserts. Founder Laura Sandford uses her background in science to create recipes that turn out perfectly every time. Millions worldwide enjoy our recipes, which they primarily discover through organic search, direct traffic (email list), and Pinterest, but now our goal is to diversify our traffic streams by growing robust social media communities and increasing revenue with affiliate marketing and brand partnerships.

By partnering with a Marketing Manager, Laura hopes to grow JoyFoodSunshine by expanding and refining the brand’s presence across all marketing channels. This position is for someone with experience creating and executing a full marketing strategy for a growing brand. Someone who is results and data-driven, eager to learn, and able to quickly and preemptively adapt to best practices in the industry. In addition to their proven success in building brands, they must also be proficient in the kitchen. They have to have a passion for baking and cooking and creating scroll-stopping recipe content. They need to be able to create social media content for JoyFoodSunshine from start to finish (shooting to posting) that is on-brand for the business. They have to take ownership and pride in the company and the content they create as if it were their own.

This on-site role in Salt Lake City requires in-person content shoots and strategic collaboration in Laura’s home kitchen.

Position Summary

This is not a passive, check-the-box role—this is about owning and elevating the entire JoyFoodSunshine marketing ecosystem. The Marketing Manager will strategize, execute, and optimize across all platforms to drive brand growth, engagement, and revenue.

  • Marketing Strategy & Execution: Develop, manage, and execute a comprehensive marketing strategy that aligns with brand goals. Own the marketing calendar, plan campaigns, and ensure all initiatives drive measurable growth. Regularly report to Laura on performance, insights, and opportunities to elevate the brand.
  • Social Media & Content: Develop and execute a high-impact social strategy, create scroll-stopping content, and drive real audience growth. Own Instagram, TikTok, YouTube, Pinterest, and Facebook with a mix of short-form videos, engaging posts, and optimized scheduling.
  • Email & Affiliate Marketing: Grow and nurture the email list, craft high-converting campaigns, and turn subscribers into buyers. Increase affiliate revenue through strategic content, promos, RewardStyle posting, and Amazon optimization.
  • Brand Partnerships & Revenue: Pitch, negotiate, and secure brand sponsorships. Don’t wait for direction—find the right partners and make the deals happen. Drive revenue through innovative affiliate marketing and partnerships.
  • Community & Engagement: Actively connect with the audience, respond to messages and comments, and cultivate relationships—source podcast opportunities for Laura to expand the brand’s reach.
  • SEO & Analytics: Keep an eye on keyword rankings, traffic trends, and optimization opportunities. Identify growth gaps and stay ahead of the algorithm.
  • Marketing Innovation: Stay current with industry trends, constantly testing and refining growth, engagement, and monetization strategies. Seeking further education to ensure best practices are used across social channels.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor of Science in Marketing
  • Reputable experience in creating and implementing a brand strategy across social media platforms.
  • Proven success in growing audiences and increasing engagement across Instagram, TikTok, Pinterest, YouTube, etc.
  • Strong videography skills, including shooting, editing, and storytelling for short-form content – specifically recipes, food, and kitchen lifestyle content.
  • Experience in creating and managing brand partnerships, sponsorship management, and affiliate marketing.
  • Strong copywriting ability: able to craft engaging, on-brand captions and post descriptions that capture the culture of the company – without the use of AI.
  • Willingness to adapt and grow with the company culture, industry best practices, and platform changes.
  • Experience in SEO and Google/Meta advertising to optimize traffic and conversions.
  • Graphic design skills using Canva, Photoshop, or InDesign.
  • Must be proficient in Adobe Premiere.
  • Must be proficient in Adobe Lightroom.
  • Strong knowledge and agility in Tailwind for Pinterest.
  • Strong knowledge and agility in ConvertKit (now known as “Kit”) for email marketing.
  • Proficiency in cooking and baking, following recipes, and creating kitchen-related content.
