Job Purpose:
The Social Media & Video Content Specialist is responsible for creating, managing, and optimizing engaging content across digital platforms to enhance brand awareness, drive audience engagement, and support marketing initiatives. This role focuses on producing high-quality video and social media content that aligns with the company’s brand identity and strategic goals. The ideal candidate will have a strong understanding of social media trends, video production, and digital storytelling to effectively connect with target audiences and expand the company’s online presence.
Responsibilities:
Social Media
Plan, develop, and execute daily social media content (text, images, video) to foster customer engagement, increase brand awareness, and strengthen community interaction.
Maintain a consistent posting schedule across primary business channels (YouTube, Instagram, Facebook, LinkedIn) in alignment with the overall marketing strategy.
Manage up to five additional vertical or segmented brand channels, determining platform selection and scheduling through strategic discussions.
Create and maintain editorial calendars and syndication schedules.
Coordinate with the director of marketing and brand manager to ensure a distinct product mix, voice, and creative approach per brand.
Manage organic social efforts through SproutSocial and/or direct platform interfaces.
Ensure consistent, timely posting with a high level of accountability, aiming for daily engagement with minimal missed posts by staying ahead of planned content.
Keep content education-focused, engaging, and applicable to primary audience(s): 80% value-driven content and 20% promotional messaging.
Ideate and recommend detailed, interesting content strategies for product- and service-related topics.
Utilize a variety of content sources, including on-site footage, external team submissions, vendor libraries, and customer-generated media.
Adapt provided written content to match platform-specific formats and brand voice, enhancing engagement.
Leverage AI writing assistance while ensuring quality and accuracy through manual review.
Ensure all content undergoes an approval process at least 3-7 days before publication.
Maintain an organized social content archive and adhere to internal workflow processes.
Collaborate with the graphic designer on shared asset organization.
Optimize company pages on social platforms, merging or deactivating acquired accounts per executive directives. Maintain social management connections to Sprout Social and/or HubSpot as needed.
Stay informed on social media trends, platform updates, and best practices for both B2B and B2C audiences.
Advise on social media strategy in collaboration with the director of marketing and industry consultants.
Develop and refine video styles, description writing, and creative approaches tailored to each platform, relaying new guidelines to director of marketing for brand guide development.
Monitor, engage, and respond to audience comments and messages regularly, relaying lead and inquiry follow-ups to the appropriate teams. Maintain a maximum one-business-day response time for social media interactions.
Expand industry reach by engaging with professionals and influencers per strategic direction.
Track and analyze performance metrics, SEO, hashtags, and engagement rates, adjusting strategies accordingly.
Provide regular performance reports (monthly, quarterly, annual) and strategic improvement recommendations.
Support data collection for executive marketing reports as needed.
Videography & Production
Capture high-quality photo and video content in studio, warehouse, and field environments using modern techniques.
Travel (1-2 times per month) across North America for on-site content creation (expenses covered, typically only weekday travel, but weekends may ocassionally be necessary).
Produce and edit short-form videos for LinkedIn, Instagram, YouTube Shorts, long-form educational content for YouTube and website, and various internal videos.
Collaborate with sales and marketing teams on creative video production (distribution managed by other teams).
Capture still images for social media and marketing use, processing internally or with a graphic designer.
Organize and manage collected content per internal standards.
Repurpose and refine existing content to maximize usability and reach.
Required Skills & Qualifications:
Professional
Expertise in social media management tools (Sprout Social preferred) and strategic execution.
Strong knowledge of modern social media practices for B2B and B2C audiences.
Proven experience in successful social media campaigns, video content creation, and audience growth (must include industrial industries like construction, mining, oil and gas, utilities, etc.).
Ability to craft engaging narratives from technical or limited-content sources.
Strong sense of visual composition, audience trends, and content adaptation for various platforms.
Proficiency in smartphone videography, general lighting techniques, and video editing software (Adobe Creative Suite preferred; alternative tools negotiable).
Ability to add subtitles and basic motion graphics to videos. Advanced motion graphics and/or rendering skills are highly desired but not necessary.
Basic photo editing skills (Lightroom Classic) required. Graphic design capabilities (typesetting, simple visual enhancements) preferred.
Excellent story telling skills with an awareness of social media trends, maintaining professional writing standards for grammar, et al.
Ability to use AI writing tools efficiently with manual quality checks.
Basic understanding of business, customer service, and social media engagement strategies.
Familiarity with marketing analytics and SEO tools (Meta Business Suite, Google Analytics, Sprout Social).
Willingness to accept and incorporate creative feedback while finding balanced solutions that work for all stakeholders, even when at the cost of the creative vision.
Strong problem-solving skills and adaptability in high-pressure or unexpected situations.
No degree required, but current/relevant skill-specific certifications can be included to demonstrate proficiencies required for the role.
Technical
Valid driver’s license and clean driving record for rental car travel. Passport or other documentation required to travel to any state in America, and Canada.
Must be authorized to work in the United States without sponsorship.
Must be able to pass a pre-employment background check, drug test, and non-DOT physical (standard for lifting and carrying as needed per the job description provided above)
Ability to work independently in a "remote-plus-travel" work environment with strong self-discipline and adherence to project delivery timelines. This is a hybrid remote position, so a personal space with good internet access and the ability to focus and maintain a high level of productivity for 40 hours a week is essential. In some regions, no local office will be available. On-location travel needs are the only in-office requirement.
Driving-range proximity to our largest rigging shops is preferred: Houston, TX; Albany, NY; Broussard, LA.
[Physical requirements]: Physical demands for accessibility when videoing: safely use ladders, catwalks, stairs, and be able to navigate rough or slippery terrain; use appropriate PPE when/where required; able to hold camera steady in sometimes awkward positions for several minutes at a time and/or hand-hold pan shots. Typical daily work will include sitting for extended periods of time at a desk.
This role requires a proactive, creative, and detail-oriented professional with a strong ability to drive social media engagement and content creation while aligning with strategic marketing goals.
