POSITION SUMMARY
As a Polysomnographic Technologist, you will be responsible for conducting polysomnographic testing to assist in diagnosing sleep disorders.
POSITION REQUIREMENTS
Formal Education/Training:
Polysomnographic Technologist diploma or degree from an accredited institution.
RPSGT certification or a minimum of one year of relevant experience.
Tennessee State License as a Polysomnographic Technologist.
BLS certification.
Workplace Experience:
Diagnostic Services
Equipment and Skills Training:
Familiarity with computerized polysomnographic testing equipment, CPAP machines, network computer systems, pulse oximetry, and oxygen titration.
Physical Environment:
Sleep Center
Physical Effort:
Proficient in verbal and written communication in English.
Able to sit, stand, or walk for extended periods, up to ten hours a day.
PERFORMANCE STANDARDS
Prepare patients physically and psychologically for testing, providing emotional support as needed.
Conduct procedures according to Williamson Health and departmental standards.
Accurately document actions taken and patients' responses.
Provide discharge instructions to patients following procedures.
Prepare completed tests for interpretation.
Maintain and prepare exam rooms for procedures.
Ensure equipment is operational and report any maintenance needs.
Participate in in-services and educational programs to enhance knowledge.
Assist in training and orienting new staff members.
Take responsibility for assigned communications and special assignments.
Convey feedback and opportunities for improvement in the sleep lab.
Maintain qualifications specific to the position.
