Reports to the Network Creative Manager serving as a non-linear video editor / Producer operating a computer-based editing system. Produces and assembles the final cuts of video and audio on BVOVN spots and segments ensuring continuity and then completes projects with final graphics and special effects prior to rendering them to the required video format. This position is both technical and creative in nature.

PRINCIPAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

Produce and edit BVOVN spots and segments
Provide effective and skilled operation of computer based non-linear editing system using a variety of software applications.
Capture video, audio and other source footage into the editing system by operating various videotape machines, time base correctors, DVD Players, routing systems, terminal and patch panel systems as well as scanners and other digital media devices.
Assembles the final cuts of video and audio on the program timeline insuring continuity and then completes projects with final graphics and special effects prior to rendering them to the required media format.
Complete edits on a variety of projects including US and International broadcasts, spots, segments, testimonies, internet programming, movies and features under the direct or indirect supervision of a producer and/or production assistant.
Create final video master of edited material for duplication and syndication.
Create disk or file based reference videos of edited material.
Present creative solutions to conceptual, content-related editing projects.
Stay informed of new techniques and equipment capabilities

Requirements


EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE:

High School graduate with a college degree in Television or equivalent Television Production experience.
5+ years of experience editing news in non-linear video or tape editing/operation required.

KNOWLEDGE/SKILLS/ABILITIES:

Must be able to hand and juggle multiple editing assignments under strict deadlines.
Working knowledge of current video post-production techniques and technology.
Be familiar with non-linear video and audio editing operations on a shared computer network.
Advanced editing experience.

EQUIPMENT TO BE USED:

Software applications including but not limited to Final Cut, Motion, Adobe After Effects, Adobe Premiere and Adobe Photoshop.

TYPICAL PHYSICAL DEMANDS:

Must be able to sit at a computer for a minimum of seven hours per day
Requires manual dexterity sufficient to operate standard office machines such as computers, fax machines, calculators, telephones, and other office equipment
Requires normal range of hearing and vision
Must be able to lift and carry 50 lbs. Primarily but not limited to video tape

WORKING CONDITIONS:

Works in normal editing suite environment.
Must be willing to work second or third shift, requiring flexibility of work schedule.
May be required to work overtime as needed to meet production goals.

Must work well with others, as a team and according to Romans 16:17, must not cause dissension, difficulties and divisions
Must maintain a good attendance record
Membership and attendance at EMIC are preferred
Because of the wide range of personal contact with ministry leaders within and outside the organization, this position requires considerable diplomacy, maturity, and excellent communication skills
