POSITION DESCRIPTION

Theater Technical Director

Mercy High School in Farmington Hills has immediate need for a Theater Technical Director for the 2025-2026 school year. The selected candidate must be willing to work Saturdays (September - mid-March excluding holiday weekends) and attend after school/evening rehearsals three weeks prior to each main stage production.

JOB RESPONSIBILITIES

- Collaborate with the Production staff of the fall play and spring musical

- Design scenery over the summer for the fall play and spring musical

- Mentor and instruct students in aspects of technical theatre including set design and construction, sound, lights, and rigging.

- Construct and paint scenery with student stage crew on Saturdays from 9am-3pm

- Acquire building supplies

- Oversee set strike after Sunday performance

- Attend technical rehearsals (Mon-Thurs for three weeks before show dates)

- Work with light crew to design and record light cues during technical rehearsals

- Work with sound crew during technical rehearsals

- Help stage crew with scene changes during technical rehearsals

- Coordinate and oversee technical elements for rentals (hourly rate in addition to contract compensation)

KEY QUALIFICATIONS/REQUIREMENTS

- Construction/Set Construction experience required

- Sound and Lighting experience required

- Scenic Design experience required

- Fly Space and Rigging experience required

- Qlab knowledge and projection experience a bonus
