Media Student Assistant WBB
Job Purpose
The Media Student Assistant will assist in creating high-quality video and photo content for Winthrop Women's Basketball. This role is designed to provide practical experience and skill development in both video production and photography, while contributing to the university's communication and marketing efforts. This position reports directly to the Head Coach. The role offers an opportunity to build a professional portfolio and gain hands-on experience in the fields of video production and photography.
The position may require physical activity, including carrying equipment and standing for extended periods.
Duties and Responsibilities
Assist in filming events, interviews, promotional videos, and other projects.
Operate camera equipment, audio gear, and lighting setups.
Collaborate with university staff to understand project requirements and objectives.
Photography:
Capture high-quality images at events, for promotional materials, and other university-related activities.
Edit and retouch photos using photo editing software.
Organize and maintain a digital photo library.
Editing and Post-Production:
Edit raw video footage into polished final products using video editing software.
Add effects, graphics, music, and sound effects to enhance video quality.
Ensure all videos and photos adhere to the university's brand and quality standards.
Project Management:
Assist in managing video and photo projects from concept to completion.
Coordinate with team members to ensure timely delivery of video and photo content.
Maintain an organized library of video and photo assets and project files.
Technical Support:
Provide technical support for video and photography equipment and software.
Troubleshoot and resolve technical issues during shoots and editing.
Creative Contribution:
Contribute creative ideas and solutions for video and photo projects.
Stay updated with the latest trends and techniques in video production and photography.
Participate in brainstorming sessions and pre-production planning.
Qualifications
Currently enrolled as a student at the university.
Basic knowledge of video production techniques and equipment.
Familiarity with video editing software such as Adobe Premiere Pro, Final Cut Pro, or similar.
Basic knowledge of photography techniques and equipment.
Familiarity with photo editing software such as Adobe Photoshop or Lightroom.
Ability to work flexible hours, including evenings and weekends as needed.
Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality.
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
Preferred Skills
Previous experience in videography, photography, or a related field.
Proficiency in motion graphics software like Adobe After Effects.
Understanding of different video formats and codecs.
Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
Creative thinking and problem-solving abilities.
Organizational skills to manage multiple projects and deadlines.
Knowledge of audio production and sound design.
