Job Description

Overheard is seeking a highly creative and driven Creative Director to lead our editorial team in producing highly engaging, satirical content. You’ll play a key role in shaping the creative direction and strategy, ensuring that our content not only meets brand goals but also resonates with our audience in a way that’s fresh, funny, and memorable. 

We’re looking for someone who’s excited about working in the fast-paced, ever-evolving social media space. You’ll have the opportunity to make a real impact on the brand’s voice and help grow a rapidly expanding team.

This person must be based in New York or LA, and reports to the VP of Overheard.

Responsibilities

  • Develop and execute a comprehensive content strategy grounded in Overheard’s voice. 
  • Ability to manage a high-performing Editorial team, while setting the creative direction for static social and video content concepts across the Overheard portfolio.
  • Deep understanding of the short-form/social Video space, with ability to develop & execute on high engagement video concepts, in collaboration with the production team.
  • Identify relevant trending/viral topics for Overheard brands to cover and define strategy for how to execute.
  • Oversee Editorial content calendar and ensure it covers all brand and audience priorities, making sure to capitalize on tentpole moments that align with Overheard’s goals.
  • Review all Editorial (and Branded) content to ensure it adheres to brand voice, style, and quality standards, making sure there is a cohesive voice across all Overheard properties.
  • Alongside Associate Creative Director, be the point person between Overheard Editorial and Brand Partnerships team to guide and create social content for client campaigns.
  • Work with the data team to produce and present regular reporting and content analysis, adapt strategy recommendations based on data/learnings. 
  • Keep a constant pulse on culture and what’s trending across platforms to inform content decisions.

Qualifications

  • Proven experience building/growing social media audiences and running successful content strategies.
  • Strong social/short-form video background. 
  • Proven creative and data-driven thinker who understands the importance of both art and science when it comes to social content success.
  • Experience creating social-first content.
  • Experience managing dating, pop-culture, and satirical verticals preferred.
  • Strong understanding of the social media landscape.
  • Experience managing and ensuring adherence to a brand's identity.
  • Comfortability with managing talent.
  • Good communication, organization, and analytical skills.
  • Strong organizational and project management skills.

The base salary for this position at the time of posting will range from $125,000 to $140,000. Individual compensation varies based on job related factors, including business needs, experience, level of responsibility, and qualifications.
