Instrumental Music/Band Instructor - 5th-12th grades (full time)

Job Summary: Pembroke Hill School is seeking a full-time faculty member to direct and teach instrumental music to 5-12th grades. This position will begin in August of 2025 for the 2025-26 school year.
Band instruction is currently divided between age groups consisting of four bands; 5th grade, 6th grade, 7th and 8th grade, and high school (9th-12th grades). A successful candidate will be a creative mind who demonstrates new ideas to grow a band program from traditional to extraordinary. This role encompasses many supportive music roles, including but not limited to, pep bands, concerts, organizing third-party orchestras for school events and school musicals, managing private instruction opportunities for students, and other performance opportunities.
Qualifications and Requirements:
- Minimum bachelor’s degree, preferably in a music-related field.
- 3+ years of teaching experience.
- Candidates should be personable, creative, flexible, and possess the knowledge to conduct all instruments in the band.
- Have a genuine desire to work with multiple age groups from introductory band students to seniors in high school.
- Must be available for some classes, rehearsals, and events to be held outside the normal hours of the school day.
- Middle-level proficiency and a strong depth of knowledge in instruments with a broad understanding of music theory.
Schedule: Teaching positions are based on the school year (August through May). During the school year, there are three school vacations – one week at Thanksgiving, two weeks in December, and two weeks in March – plus holidays, personal and sick days. For this position, the candidate must be available for some classes, rehearsals, and events to be held outside the normal hours of the school day.
Compensation: Compensation will be based on a competitive norm influenced by area and peer schools, using years of teaching experience and the highest completed degree. Transcripts and verification of employment will be required.
