Professional Technical Writer
This position requires an active Public Trust clearance or the ability to obtain a Public Trust clearance to be considered.
The Professional Technical Writer supports the Joint Trauma System (JTS) by managing the drafting, editing, and formatting of technical documents, user guides, and standard operating procedures. They collaborate with subject matter experts (SMEs) to refine complex medical and IT-related information into clear, structured content while ensuring accuracy and consistency. The writer also assists with manuscript development, technical reports, and data presentation, aligning all deliverables with publication and compliance standards. Additionally, they help coordinate meetings, provide scribe services, and maintain document distribution lists in accordance with USAMITC guidelines.

Estimated Starting Salary Range for Professional Technical Writer:
- Pay commensurate with experience.

Professional Technical Writer Responsibilities Include:
- The contractor will plan and implement document draft, review, and revision cycles for multiple concurrent projects, including User Guides and Standard Operating Procedures. Expert knowledge of the document formats and requirements of the medical/IT arena to be able to provide writing, assistance, and “ghost writing” services to JTS Chief, SMEs, and technical personnel. Technical writing services may additionally include setting up meetings and providing meeting scribe services. Writing assignments may include both human and canine trauma topics.
- The writer will edit and format contributed or solicited article manuscripts, ensuring that it reflects logical, sequential organization, contains correct grammar, syntax, spelling, and punctuation, and conforms to publication style and format, while retaining the author’s unique writing style and methods of expression.
- They will collaborate with customers to develop data presentation approaches and dashboards for specific manuscripts and/or technical reports based upon data pulled from the DoDTR.
- They will prepare, review/edit technical reports for content/language. All deliverables shall be produced both electronically and on hard copy using software compatible with current USAMITC standards as specified by the COR. The contractor shall maintain and update all distribution lists.
- Performs other job-related duties as assigned.
Professional Technical Writer Experience, Education, Skills, Abilities requested:
- Bachelors Degree
- Four (4) years of progressive experience demonstrating the required proficiency.
- Must pass pre-employment qualifications of Cherokee Federal.
