We are currently looking to add a dynamic UVM Specialist to our passionate team of environmental professionals.

Job Duties

1. Inspect distribution utility right-of-ways and access to Right-of-Way (ROW) areas, for compliance with state clearance standards.
2. Identify needed tree and brush control work and provide information to line-clearance crews.
3. Document work using hand-held computer.
4. Notify property owners of pending work on their property.
5. Audit work completed by contractors.
6. Discuss and negotiate line-clearance crew access issues.
7. Special projects as assigned.
8. Must be willing to work nights, weekends, holidays, and storms as needed.

Qualifications

1. Previous experience successfully working as Utility Vegetation Management Technician or equivalent experience in the industry will be required.
2. Professional or Collegiate Practical Tree Work Experience (including Collegiate Climbing Classes, Forestry Club Operations, Production Climber, Groundsman, or Lift Operator, etc).
3. Proficiency with local Tree Identification and Tree Physiology.
4. ISA Certified Arborist or ability to obtain in 6-12 months. Commercial Pesticide Applicator's License.
5. Current Driver's License and Driving Record in good standing.
6. Proficient working knowledge of computers. Word, Excel, Access, Outlook, PowerPoint.

POSITION: Herbicide Safety Observer

TYPE: Full-Time, Monday - Friday, some weekday overnight travel required

POSITION LOCATIONS: Southern California Including: Los Angeles, Riverside, Ventura, Orange, San Bernardino Counties, as well as Eastern California Including Tulare, Inyo, and Mono Counties

RESPONSIBILITIES:

1. Work with major gas/electric utility system and address its forestry needs.
2. Perform safety observations on herbicide application crews and DRG field employees.
3. Up to 25% travel throughout SoCal Edison Territory.
4. Assess all terrain, habitat, and environmental conditions.
5. Coordinate with project managers, inspectors, work planners, and tree crews.

DESIRED QUALIFICATIONS:

1. Two or four year degree in horticulture, forestry, urban forestry, environmental science or a related discipline.
2. Certified Treecare Safety Professional, OSHA 30 or similar safety qualification(s).

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:

1. 3 years experience in utility herbicide application, tree/spray crew auditing or other related experience.
2. Great communicator and team player.
3. Clean DMV driving record and ability to drive and operate a 4x4 vehicle on rough roads.
4. Ability to work and hike in rugged terrain and inclement weather.
