We're looking for a talented and detail-oriented mid-level Technical Editor to join our team! In this role, you'll have the opportunity to review, edit, and enhance various technical and business documents, reports, plans, and other materials for our high-voltage transmission, substation, and environmental projects. You'll collaborate closely with our project teams to ensure everything we deliver is clear, accurate, and aligned with our company's style and quality standards. This full-time position with company benefits is based out of our Mesa, Arizona office.
Responsibilities
Review and edit various technical documents, including reports, project plans, proposals, technical write-ups, and environmental documents. Develop and maintain a comprehensive company style guide to ensure consistency in tone, formatting, and technical accuracy across all written deliverables. Collaborate with graphic designers, project managers, and technical writers to incorporate relevant graphics, illustrations, tables, charts, maps, and company branding into deliverables. Create and maintain document templates, prototypes, and mock-ups to ensure uniformity and ease of use across multiple projects. Implement writing and editing protocols for internal and external communications, ensuring all documents are clear and concise. Work with cross-functional teams to revise and refine technical content, ensuring all changes align with the company's technical and branding standards, industry standards, and regulatory requirements. Guide and support team members on best practices for technical writing, editing, and document presentation. Qualifications
3-5 years of experience in technical editing or a related role, with a strong portfolio demonstrating proficiency in editing technical documents. Proven experience as a technical editor or in a similar role, with a strong understanding of business and technical communication. Strong attention to detail and ability to maintain consistency across various documents. Ability to implement technical writing principles, including clarity, structure, and formatting. Excellent editing and proofreading skills, with the ability to improve clarity, readability, and technical accuracy. Ability to collaborate with cross-functional teams and work in a fast-paced environment. Exceptional written and verbal communication skills. Significant experience using Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint). A Bachelor's degree in English, Communications, Journalism, or a related field. Preferred:
Experience working in the construction or engineering industry, particularly in high-voltage transmission and substations, is a plus. Familiarity with environmental planning, permitting, and compliance-related documentation is a plus. Proven ability to develop and maintain style guides and document templates. Experience with Adobe Creative Suite (InDesign, Illustrator, Photoshop) for document design and graphic integration. A Master's degree in English, Communications, Journalism, or a related field.
