Overview Princeton University Library (PUL) seeks a knowledgeable, collaborative, and curious individual to join the Assessment and User Experience department who will focus on the use and usability of the Library's website. Reporting to the Assistant Director for Library Assessment and User Experience, and working in close collaboration with the Office of Library Communications and Library IT, this position emphasizes user-centered design and supports the ongoing enhancement of the Library’s web platforms. The User Experience Strategist will implement the Library’s web content strategy; collaborate with stakeholders to ensure platforms are useful, usable, and accessible; and align design efforts with user experience and visual identity.

Responsibilities

Collaborate with colleagues and stakeholders to implement the Library’s content strategy across all platforms, ensuring consistency, accessibility, and positive user experiences.

Manage and act as Product Owner for the Library’s content platforms including the website, LibGuides, and intranet.

Support the integration of tools and applications into the website such as: search, digital library, finding aids, catalog, wayfinding, calendaring, space reservations.

Engage in the cohesive development and implementation of a coordinated design system across library platforms in alignment with Library and University visual identity guidelines.

Lead web analytics metric coordination and provide regular reporting of user behavior and usage.

Coordinate accessibility efforts to ensure web platforms comply with accessibility standards.

Design and conduct user research studies in collaboration with stakeholders and service managers.

Conduct training and coach content creators on topics such as user experience, service design, writing for the web and accessibility.

Qualifications Required Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree and 5+ years of relevant work experience, or an equivalent combination of credentials and work experience

Demonstrated experience and understanding of websites, information architecture, navigation, and assessment

Demonstrated experience with quantitative and qualitative user experience research methods.

Expertise with inclusive design and accessibility standards such as WCAG 2.2

Experience with content management systems(e.g. Drupal, Wordpress, Confluence) and web technologies and design (e.g. HTML, CSS, APIs)

Working knowledge of Google Analytics and other web analytics tools

Ability to work as part of a team, problem solve, maintain attention to detail in a complex environment

Experience which demonstrates a strong customer service orientation

Excellent written and verbal communication skills for including writing for the web

Prefered Qualifications

Master’s degree within the fields of HCI, CS, Library and Information Science or similar

Experience in higher education

Experience in libraries or cultural heritage organizations

Experience with library specific software such as SpringShare products, Summon, Blacklight, StackMap

Experience with user research and design tools such as Qualtircs, MouseFlow, Mural, Figma, UXTweak
