Goodreads is seeking a Contract Visual Designer with the ability to design high-impact social media content, following existing templates and brand guidelines while innovating within our visual identity framework. This position requires strong intrinsic design ability, typographic skills, acute attention to detail, and web expertise. The ability to manage multiple projects and large volume is essential.
This designer will be collaborating with several disciplines at Goodreads to ensure unified and cohesive creation, including designers, editors, marketers, producers, QA specialists and operations managers responsible for creating and delivering high volumes of digital design assets.
The candidate will have a comprehensive understanding of graphic design processes and software, specifically for graphic production, along with experience and a successful track record social content creation in fast-paced environments. Additionally, this candidate should have a keen eye for detail, and an excellent ability to communicate.
Qualifications: An online portfolio demonstrating experience creating branded designs for social, along with marketing and editorial. Several years experience in creating static graphics, animations, GIFs, and short-form videos tailored to platform-specific audiences. Expert Knowledge of Figma. Working knowledge of Illustrator and Photoshop. Strategic Creativity: Ability to craft visually arresting designs that resonate with target demographics, leveraging trends in typography, color theory, and layout principles. Project Management: Demonstrated ability to self-manage multiple deadlines in fast-paced environments, with meticulous attention to detail. Working knowledge of design standards for accessibility, usability and image optimization across surfaces. Experience using brand guidelines and templates to create consistently on-brand work. Ability to generate multiple design concepts, creating visual options that look different and new, yet still appear on-brand. Creativity to leverage libraries of illustration and visual elements, remixing and styling them for visual differentiation. Responsiveness to design feedback, and quick to revise and handoff design deliverables Willingness to support several projects at one time, and to accept reprioritization as necessary. Exceptional quality control and attention to design details: products, typography and copy. Ensure design requirements (specs, formats, file size) are met in adherence with strict product/project guidelines. Experience creating new templates and contribute to visual design systems. Designing for multi-channel campaigns, including email marketing and ads.
