Position Title: Highway Designer Location: New Haven, Connecticut, United States Department: Highway/Roadway Description: We are offering an exciting opportunity for a Highway Designer to join our New Haven, CT office. Responsibilities * Assist in the design and development of conceptual design alternatives into contract plans, specifications, and construction estimates for highway, roadway bridge, interchange and draining projects * Assist in the design of ADA compliant facilities, including sidewalks, shared-use paths and intersection curb ramps * Assist in the design and production of traffic control and staging plans and traffic, signing and striping plans * Assist in the production of engineering reports and other technical documents * Attend occasional field visits and meetings to gather data or assist in construction inspections * Create 2D and 3D design models with computer design software such as: AutoCAD, OpenRoads and AutoTurn * Work in coordination with H&H offices across the country to deliver projects that make roads safer Requirements: * Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering * EIT certification and prior internship experience (preferred) * Zero-three years of experience * Microstation V8i, Bentley OpenRoads experience (preferred) * Experience with CTDOT and/or the CTDOT Highway Design Manual (preferred) * Strong math skills and proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel and PowerPoint * Excellent communication skills and the ability to work well in cooperative team environments Benefits: We offer a professional work environment, competitive salary, benefits package, and 401(k).
