Position: Staff Structural Designer
Location: Chesapeake, VA 23320
Contract Duration: 10 Months
Pay Rate: $40-$52/hr
Job Overview:
We are seeking an experienced Staff Structural Designer with 5+ years of experience, proficient in Revit and familiar with building construction in the federal market. The ideal candidate will have strong communication skills and be a U.S. citizen due to the nature of the work. Experience working with the Navy CAD standards is a plus. Some travel may be required throughout the year.
Key Responsibilities:
- Develop detailed construction drawings for steel and reinforced concrete structures.
- Produce a full range of drawing production work, including design layouts and calculations.
- Execute designs for industrial, manufacturing, and federal projects, including new facilities and facility modifications.
- Perform 2D drafting and 3D modeling to develop engineering solutions.
- Prepare structural calculations, reports, and documentation.
- Interpret and apply design codes and specifications.
- Organize and maintain revisions of project drawings and related files.
- Collaborate with project managers, engineers, and designers to resolve design issues.
Required Qualifications:
- Education: Bachelor’s Degree in drafting technology (or related field) with 5 years of experience, OR Associate Degree with 6 years of experience, OR 9 years of progressive detailing and design experience.
- Software Skills: Proficiency in Revit is required. Experience with AutoCAD, Civil 3D, and MicroStation is a plus.
- Strong knowledge of structural design, calculations, and engineering standards.
- Ability to work in a multi-discipline team environment.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with high attention to detail.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience in federal building design.
- Familiarity with Navy CAD standards.
- Previous experience in criminal defense projects.
