This position requires the candidate to live within 25 miles of Tampa,FL. We are seeking candidates who already reside in the area, as relocation and remote work are not options for this role.


Game Programmer (VR)-Indie Studio


We're a small indie game studio in Tampa, crafting some exciting VR experiences, and we need a Game Programmer to join the adventure! No matter your experience level, if you're passionate about VR and making awesome games, we want to hear from you!


What We're Looking For:

We need a Game Programmer who's passionate about VR and excited to bring immersive worlds to life. As one of our first hires, you'll have a big impact on both the game and the studio's future. If you love creative problem-solving, working in a fast moving environment, and making cool things with a tight-knit team, we'd love to talk.


What You'll Do:

  • Develop and implement gameplay mechanics, systems, and interactions for a VR game.
  • Collaborate closely with designers, artists, and other developers to bring ideas to life.
  • Optimize performance to ensure smooth immersive VR experiences.
  • Help define our development pipeline and best practices as we grow.


What You'll Need:

  • Proficiency in Unity or Unreal Engine
  • Strong C# or C++ programming skills
  • Experience with VR development and understanding of VR best practices.
  • Ability to work independently and wear multiple hats in a small-team setting
  • A passion for making great games and pushing creative boundaries
  • VR, SDKs & APIs- Experience with Oculus SDK, SteamVR, OpenXR, and XR Interaction Toolkit is crucial for VR-specific interactions and optimizations


Nice-to-Haves:

  • Experience working in an indie studio or startup environment
  • Familiarity with physics-based interactions in VR
  • Knowledge of multiplayer networking for VR
  • A love for prototyping and experimenting with new ideas
  • Networking & Multiplayer-Experience with Photon, Mirror, or Unreal's networking systems is valuable for creating multiplayer VR experiences
