POSITION SUMMARY

The Education and Communications Coordinator assists the IWM directors in their work of providing cross-cultural training for missionaries of the Seventh-day Adventist Church, specifically addressing the needs of teens and young adults. This position also plays a vital role in enhancing the visibility of IWM by preparing, implementing, and effectively managing communication strategies that will contribute to the smooth and efficient operation of the office.

COMPENSATION Full-time exempt position with benefits Remuneration Range: 87-100% (81K-93K annually) BENEFITS

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS

Assists the IWM Director and Associate Directors with resource preparation for cross-cultural missionary training. Develops curriculum, researches and prepares materials, and teaches the teen/young adult class at Mission Institutes and Re-entry and other cross-cultural training events as needed. Assists with the online Passport to Mission course for the Adventist Volunteer Service (AVS). Maintains the IWM website. Assists with planning, organizing, and preparation for IWM activities and events. Managing editor for IWM communications such as Global Connections online newsletter etc., Organizes and maintains the physical and electronic IWM libraries and resource materials. Maintains the IWM library database and spreadsheet files, orders new books, etc. Assists the director ad needed in preparing presentations and reports. Conducts basic research to support decision-making and planning. Ensures confidentiality of sensitive information. Serves on committees as assigned. Promotes a multi-cultural team atmosphere in the work place. Must be a member in regular standing of the Seventh-day Adventist Church. Must maintain a regular and reliable work schedule. Other duties as assigned. QUALIFICATIONS

Education and Experience

Bachelor's (BA/BS) degree required, Education, psychology or religion related field preferred. Successful current and relevant work experience may be acceptable in lieu of scholastic requirements. Master degree preferred. A minimum of five years of mission experience required; experience raising missionary children and/or as a child of missionary parents is preferred. Must have experienced the re-entry adjustment process from the mission field at least once. Teaching experience required with current certification preferred. Prior experience with website maintenance preferred. Second language preferred. Knowledge, Skills & Abilities

Extensive knowledge of principles, policies and beliefs of the General Conference and the Church. Knowledge of church structure and organization, including committee procedures, etc. Knowledge and skill in appropriate methods of dealing with human behavior in various circumstances. Advanced command of English language skills including proficiency in verbal and written forms. Individual must possess sound judgment, maintain high output, be well organized, have the ability to make decisions under pressure, be disciplined to meet deadlines, have the ability to write well, have good editorial skills, be a team player and a capable public speaker.
