Summary:
The Director, Member Marketing and Communications is a dynamic, results-driven leader who fuels member engagement and growth by effectively communicating the value of U.S. Travel membership and the impact of our organization's initiatives. In this role, you will craft tailored outreach strategies to drive both member growth and retention, while ensuring that key organizational priorities are strategically positioned and communicated. Reporting to the Vice President of Marketing, this individual develops and executes a member-centric marketing and communications strategy that increases awareness, boosts favorability, and motivates action among current and prospective members in all categories.
Responsibilities: Craft compelling member outreach and develop touchpoints along the member recruitment journey to accelerate growth initiatives. Collaborate with internal teams to position and promote member resources, programs and initiatives across U.S. Travel websites, blog content, newsletters, social media, events, email and other channels. In partnership with teams across the organization, identify opportunities to measure and communicate the impact of U.S. Travel's programs and initiatives that grow travel to and within the United States. Provide strategic counsel and craft bespoke communications to U.S. Travel member segments and communities working closely with other related teams. Manage SmartBrief newsletter relationship and growth, including trial sends, daily news submissions, editorial decision making, house ads and audience development. Work in tandem with the strategic communications team to ensure alignment on key messages critical overall strategic priorities. Serve as marketing leader for member-specific programs, webinars and activations including the U.S. Travel Hub at select conferences. Oversee the communications and marketing direction and execution of key U.S. Travel collateral including membership renewal packets and onboarding materials. Partner with public affairs team on annual Year in Review, CEO updates and other member-facing efforts. Key Attributes:

Skilled at crafting marketing campaigns and materials that influence decision makers. Expertise at blending storytelling with brand positioning while being concise, consistent and clear. Highly organized, with meticulous attention to detail and ability to meet competing deadlines while managing multiple projects and stakeholders. Experienced in cross-functional collaboration, balancing diverse priorities, and effectively managing relationships with senior leaders. Proactive self-starter, able to anticipate needs, identify potential challenges and solutions while bringing a calm confidence to decision making. Strong interpersonal communications skills and natural collaborator; able to work seamlessly with colleagues to achieve shared objectives. Committed to growth, consistently seeking feedback and striving for continuous self-improvement. Appreciation of the political landscape and value of advocacy-focused trade associations. Education, Experience and Skills:
Bachelor's degree in Communications, Marketing, Psychology or similar required. 6-8 years of relevant work experience in Communications or Marketing roles, preferably in a trade association, communications/PR agency or member organization. Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite Other: Position based in Washington, DC. U.S. Travel staff work in the office Tuesdays, Wednesdays and Thursdays with the option to work remotely on Mondays and Fridays.
