Senior Executive Producer.
Our ideal candidate is a collaborative, experienced leader who’s great at juggling the day’s news and growing journalists. Through careful coaching, the Senior Executive Producer elevates our station's storytelling, writing, and execution. The ideal candidate has excellent news judgment and strong management skills with the ability to motivate, collaborate and own the big story. Responsibilities:
Manage the General Assignment Reporting (MSJ) staff to include approving scripts, storylines, and live shot presentation. Assign stories to reporters based on new priorities. Ensure accuracy, fairness, timeliness, and quality of general assignment reports. Work with Executive Producers in coordinating story coverage in shows for maximum impact. Work with Production staff to enhance creative storytelling. Ability to make quick decisions in a breaking news scenario and dispatch teams rapidly for immediate coverage. Give regular guidance, feedback, and training to reporting staff on story pitches, writing, and presentation. Conduct performance reviews, give corrective feedback, and performance improvement plans as needed. Work with the Assistant News Director in project planning for big events. Adhere to TEGNA’s rules of journalistic ethics. Requirements:
Bachelor’s degree in journalism, communications, or related field and news leadership experience. 5-7 years of content experience, reporting background preferred and a plus. Solid journalistic and content judgment that emphasizes accurate, fair, and unique local content, along with community engagement. Strong communication and conflict management skills. Strong organizational skills in a fast-paced and deadline-driven environment.
