Location Name New York Office Responsibilities and Qualifications Bonobos is seeking an Associate Technical Designer who, with limited supervision from a Technical Design (TD) leader, determines and sets all garment engineering standards for product development and final production, arranges and leads cross-functional fit sessions, manages risks, sample tracking, and influences calendar/workflow for a specified garment category or categories. KEY RESPONSIBILITIES Collaborates with Designers and Merchants to understand the design concept/vision and influence changes as needed to help ensure the product fit, function, price, and delivery goals can be successfully achieved in a bulk production scenario. Establishes and records all technical owned garment specifications within BeProduct (web-based PLM) to direct and enable our worldwide technical partners to develop and produce high quality and appropriately engineered products. Leads fit sessions with Designers and Merchants by adhering to the established EXP fit roles and responsibilities guidelines. Evaluates product to predict and manage risk from design concept through final production approval. Records fit session comments and ensures plan of action including product status are clearly understood and aligned upon by all CF teams. Utilizes BeProduct (web-based PLM), Gerber Accumark, Illustrator, and Vendor virtual sampling capabilities as needed to expedite and clearly communicate garment specifications and changes. Tracks and manages all fit samples/packages. Collaborates to arrange and manage all Fit Lists and notes for each fit session. Calibrates new vendor technical partners. Determines when a product fit, use, and application of trims and all other engineering is commercially approvable and ready for mass production. Upholds and improves department specific technical standards, record keeping, processes, procedures, and tools. REQUIRED EXPERIENCE & QUALIFICATIONS Education: College degree or equivalent work experience. Experience: Minimum 2 years Technical Design experience within the apparel industry. Proven communication skills (written, verbal, and interpersonal). Recognized leadership abilities (within a live fit session and other cross-functional team meetings). Demonstrates sound understanding of department specific construction, apparel factory operations, and patternmaking fundamentals. Displays agility/ability to multi-task and adapt to change. Demonstrates focus on risk assessment at all stages of product development. Solution-oriented. Consistently engages their TD leader and cross-functional team to solve problems, overcome challenges, and accept responsibility. Proven ability to lead and influence through clear and consistent actions in a cross-functional team environment with limited support from a Technical Design leader. Ability to manage and follow through on a task from start to finish within specified timelines with limited supervision. Proficient user of BeProduct (web-based PLM), Adobe Illustrator CS6, Accumark 10.3, Gmail & Google Suite, Excel, Word. CRITICAL SKILLS & ATTRIBUTES A trained eye for basic Design aesthetic details. On top of current Fit trends in the market.
