This full-time professional position serves as a creative specialist within the City’s Communications Department. The Graphic Designer will create compelling visual materials that promote and enhance the City’s brand, communicate effectively across digital and print platforms, and collaborate with various departments to ensure consistent and impactful messaging. Reporting relationship: Communications Manager

Responsibilities:

  • Design and produce high-quality visual materials, including brochures, flyers, posters, reports, newsletters, and other print collateral.
  • Develop and execute creative concepts for digital platforms, such as website graphics, social media posts, email campaigns, and digital advertisements.
  • Ensure all designs align with the City’s branding guidelines and communicate a cohesive visual identity.
  • Collaborate with internal departments to develop creative solutions for marketing campaigns, public events, and special initiatives.
  • Manage multiple design projects simultaneously, ensuring timely delivery and adherence to project goals.
  • Assist in creating infographics, presentations, and other visual content to support storytelling and data visualization.
  • Maintain and organize the City’s digital asset library, including logos, templates, and stock images.
  • Perform basic video editing and motion graphic creation as needed to complement visual projects.
  • Stay current on design trends, tools, and technologies to improve processes and output.
  • Develop branded templates for City departments to streamline internal communications.
  • Coordinate with external vendors for printing and production of large-scale materials.
  • Support crisis communication efforts with rapid design turnaround for emergency notifications.
  • Conceptualize and design visual branding for special City programs and events.
  • Create interactive digital forms, presentations, or other tools to engage the community.
  • Perform other communications-related duties as assigned.
  • Subject to 24-hour recall and Emergency Operations recall as necessary.

Qualifications:

Bachelor’s degree in Graphic Design, Visual Communications, or a related field desired. Minimum of 2 years of professional graphic design experience. Proficiency in Adobe Creative Suite (Photoshop, Illustrator, InDesign, Premiere Pro) and Microsoft Office Suite. Strong portfolio showcasing a range of design projects and proficiency in both digital and print media.
