Sing Education are looking for a reliable, confident and inspirational musician with a degree in music or a related field (i.e. musical theatre/music education) to join our team of specialist music teachers in Middlesbrough on a permanent basis for 2-5 days per week.
Full-time Salary PA: £22,379 – £29,288 (for 5 days per week), based on a 5 point progressive pay scale, staff progress up the pay scale with each 12 months of service following a successful managerial supervision meeting. Initial pay is dependent on classroom music experience and weekly hours, + pension. 7 – 35 hours per week – 38 weeks per year + paid training. No PGCE required.
What we do: Sing Education source and train music teachers, develop teaching resources and provide management and consultancy services to schools in London, Yorkshire, Kent and Slough. We enable children to encounter the transformative power of music in their lives, by experiencing the joy of singing and making music collectively at school.
Teaching typically includes:
- Weekly teaching, full school day – 8.45am-3.30/4.30pm, term time
- Permanent placement in a Sing Education primary school/s
- Singing-led curricular whole-class music lessons – Nursery to Year 6 following Sing Education teaching resources
- Choirs, lunchtime and after school clubs
Person Specification:
Qualification
- University graduate with a good degree in music or a related field
- QTS desirable but not required
Knowledge and Skills
- Strong singing voice and confidence to lead lessons and assemblies with the singing voice
- Excellent spoken and written English
- Ability to lead whole-class music lessons
- Basic keyboard skills to use in a classroom setting
- Knowledge of the requirements of the National Curriculum for music
- A degree of ICT literacy and ability to use online systems such as G Suite and other communication platforms
- Classroom or one-to-one teaching experience
- Experience of working with children or young people in a teaching or leadership capacity.
Personal Qualities
- Ability to lead and inspire a passion for music in pupils
- A firm approach to discipline, and good classroom management skills
- The ability to work well as part of both Sing Education and in-school teams
- The ability to maintain confidentiality as appropriate
- A sense of humour
- An ability to generate enthusiasm for music in the wider life of the school
- A high level of personal organisation and good communication skills
- A commitment to personal and company wider development
