A well-established distributed generation renewable energy developer with 16+ years in business, 450+ projects completed, and a growing portfolio of owned assets. The company is expanding its project finance team to support its transition to owning more projects rather than selling them.

Position Overview :

The Head of Project Finance will lead project-level financings, structure tax credit sales, and optimize financial transactions for a growing portfolio of distributed generation solar projects. This role requires a hands-on, deal-driven individual who can work independently while coordinating with internal teams, external investors, and lenders.

Key Responsibilities :

  • Lead project financings from late-stage development through Notice to Proceed and closing.
  • Negotiate term sheets and financing structures, optimizing terms to accelerate deal execution.
  • Coordinate with third-party lenders, investors, and internal stakeholders to close financings efficiently.
  • Work closely with development, EPC, and corporate finance teams to ensure project financial success.
  • Develop creative financing solutions to streamline project transactions in a fast-growing pipeline.
  • Manage relationships with financial institutions, ensuring access to capital for continued growth.
  • Act as a hands-on leader—engaged in the details of transactions rather than managing from a distance.

Qualifications & Experience :

  • Proven experience leading and closing renewable energy project finance transactions, ideally in DG solar.
  • Strong background in structuring tax credit sales, partnership flips, and project-level financing.
  • Ability to work autonomously and drive transactions forward with external partners.
  • Comfort in a fast-paced, deal-heavy environment with multiple projects moving simultaneously.
  • Experience negotiating term sheets and securing competitive financing terms.
  • Hands-on approach—willing to dive into financial models and work directly on deals.
  • No specific minimum years of experience required—potential and ability to lead deals are key.
  • Strong interpersonal skills and ability to collaborate with internal teams and external stakeholders.
  • Hybrid in Southern California (preferred).
  • Open to candidates willing to travel in once a month for a week if not local.
  • Flat organizational structure—collaborative and non-political work environment.

This is a rare opportunity to take ownership of project finance at a growing renewable energy developer with a strong pipeline and long-term vision. The company is selective but willing to move for the right candidate who can drive deals forward and help scale the platform.

Interested candidates should be prepared for a short and efficient interview process with senior leadership.
