Cox Communications is seeking a talented Sr. Video DevOps Engineer to join the team! As a Video DevOps Engineer, you will be responsible for implementing, maintaining, and scaling systems and processes to support the continuous integration and feature enhancements of our operational support systems. This role requires close collaboration with cross-functional teams, focusing on infrastructure management, automation, and system reliability. Your work will be pivotal in executing code releases, API integrations, and managing the deployment and monitoring of tools that ensure seamless video stream quality and ad delivery. We are responsible for the analysis, measurement, and adjustments of ad insertion for IP-QAM streams. We serve as operators and validation points for ongoing stream Monitoring Platforms.

Responsibilities:

  • Design, build, and manage pipelines for automated testing, integration, and deployments to streamline release cycles.
  • Focuses on IP & QAM video content, ad quality, & stream performance.
  • Oversee Kubernetes-based infrastructure and maintain cloud environments to ensure system scalability, security, and resilience.
  • Maintain, monitor, and optimize video streaming systems, utilizing logging and alerting mechanisms to ensure high availability and quick troubleshooting.
  • Collaborate on the development and integration of new features and system optimizations, leveraging automation to reduce manual intervention and streamline workflows.
  • Provide on-call support as needed to address critical operational issues and respond to incidents, ensuring quick restoration of services and minimal disruption.
  • Actively participate in quarterly stream maintenance, focusing on infrastructure health and system reliability during high-load periods.

Qualifications:

  • Strong understanding of cloud infrastructure (GCP or Azure) and containerized applications (Docker, Kubernetes).
  • Familiarity with CI/CD tools and processes (e.g., Jenkins, GitLab CI, or equivalent).
  • Experience with logging and monitoring tools such as Prometheus, Grafana, ELK Stack, or similar for proactive system monitoring.
  • In-depth knowledge of ad insertion systems and streaming protocols (preferably with familiarity in SCTE-35 Triggers, IP Video, MPEG2, MPEG4).
  • Proficiency in scripting and automation tools (e.g., Python, Ansible) for process improvement and workflow automation.
  • Bachelor’s degree in a related discipline and 4 years’ experience in a related field. The rightcandidate could also have a different combination, such as a master’s degree and 2 years’experience; a Ph.D. and up to 1 year of experience; or 16 years’ experience in a related field.
