We are seeking an innovative and dynamic Senior Director of Brand to join our rapidly expanding media company. This position requires a vision for elevating our podcast portfolio and driving our content strategy in the fast-evolving audio landscape. As the Senior Director, you will be responsible for crafting compelling content narratives that resonate with diverse audiences while also overseeing the marketing process from conception to execution. You will cross-collaborate with internal teams as well as external partners to ensure our podcasts are not only engaging but also contribute to our brand's mission and objectives. This role demands a deep understanding of the podcasting industry, current trends, audience engagement strategies, and monetization techniques. You will also play a critical role in building partnerships with other media outlets and brands, driving our growth strategy through innovative content and marketing initiatives. This position offers the unique opportunity to shape our podcasting vision and solidify our place as a leader in the audio media landscape.

This role is based out of NYC but open to LA as well.

What You Will Do:

Podcast Strategy Development:

  • Define the overall podcast strategy, ensuring alignment with the brand’s goals, vision, and target audience.
  • Identify key themes and topics that resonate with our audience for both Reese’s Book Club and Hello Sunshine while staying true to the brand’s identity.
  • Develop a content calendar across both podcasts that align with Hello Sunshine internal priorities.

Content Creation & Planning:

  • Collaborate with internal teams to brainstorm, outline, and develop compelling episode concepts and formats.
  • Oversee the creation of episode scripts and key talking points, ensuring episodes have a clear structure.
  • Coordinate and manage guest bookings, ensuring alignment with the brand and podcast’s mission.
  • Collaborate with pre- and post-sales teams to ideate and deliver innovative brand partnerships and podcast creative, including in-show segments and live tapings.


Brand Consistency, Marketing & Promotion:

  • Maintain consistency across the podcast, ensuring the tone, messaging, and style align with the brand's overall voice.
  • Develop promotional strategies to maximize podcast visibility and listener engagement, including social media and email newsletters.
  • Collaborate with the marketing team to create cohesive promotional materials that align with the podcast’s messaging.
  • Identify and ideate around brand partnership opportunities for the sales team, ensuring inclusion in brand initiatives.


Analytics & Performance Monitoring:

  • Track and analyze podcast performance metrics such as listenership, audience demographics, and engagement.
  • Use feedback and performance data to continuously refine content and strategy, improving future episodes.
  • Monitor listener reviews and feedback to inform podcast direction.


Consistency & Scheduling:

  • Ensure the podcast is released on schedule, maintaining a consistent presence with listeners.
  • Provide essential support to Solar activation and iHeart by managing budgets, schedules, and timelines for executing on branded programs.


Solar Sales Support:

  • Collaborate with the pre- and post-sales teams to ideate and deliver innovative brand partnerships and podcast creative, including in-show segments, bonus episodes, and live tapings, enhancing overall selling and activation efforts.
  • Provide essential support to Solar activation and iHeart, managing budgets, schedules, and timelines for executing on branded and social segments, ensuring smooth operational flow.
  • Distill branded segments from ad loads while maintaining editorial integrity, ensuring brand partners' feedback is incorporated effectively.
  • Monitor brand obligations, including ad refreshes and content requirements, through proactive communication with iHeart to meet client deliverables.
  • Offer up-to-date insights on The Bright Side and Reese’s Boob Club podcasts to guide current and future pitches, aiding in podcast promotion and driving revenue for Hello Sunshine and iHeart.
  • Identify and flag brand partnership opportunities for the sales team, ensuring relevant inclusion in brand initiatives and addressing any potential conflicts with iHeart.
  • Organically program podcast content to engage and win over potential brand partners, exemplified by collaboration with L’Oreal; Airbnb and Dove on integrated editorial content.

Requirements

  • A minimum of 8+ years in brand marketing, marketing operations, creative development, podcast production, editorial operations, or a related field, with a focus on leadership roles.
  • Experience overseeing and developing a brand’s image, identity, market presence, and content strategy.
  • Proven track record of developing successful content strategies and leading diverse audio & marketing teams.
  • Experience building a brand, leading content/editorial strategy, and managing internal operations.
  • Strong understanding of podcast development, monetization models, audience analysis, and distribution channels.
  • Exceptional communication, presentation, and interpersonal skills for effective collaboration.
  • Strong understanding of analytics and how to use data to optimize content and marketing efforts.
  • Ability to think creatively and strategically to drive innovation within the podcasting landscape.
  • Passion for audio storytelling and a deep appreciation for the evolving nature of media consumption.
  • Bachelor’s degree in media, Communications, Marketing, Business, or a related field; advanced degree preferred.

Additional Qualifications:

  • Experience working with major podcast platforms (e.g., Spotify, Apple Podcasts, Stitcher, etc.)
  • Experience working in a fast-paced, dynamic media environment.
  • Existing network within the podcasting or audio content industry.
  • Strong collaboration and intrapersonal skills

Benefits

This position offers an estimated base salary range of $140,000 - $150,000
