Job Summary
Seeking a Mechanical Piping Designer to work in a team environment developing accurate, constructible, and coordinated piping system models. Responsibilities include creating shop drawings, adhering to drafting standards, and collaborating with project managers, engineers, and field foremen. The role supports construction teams with timely, high-quality fabrication documents.
Responsibilities
- Utilize CAD standards to create piping models aligned with project requirements.
- Develop Mechanical Piping systems in compliance with plans, specifications, and codes.
- Coordinate piping systems with ductwork, equipment, and other building elements.
- Ensure safe and accessible installations per manufacturer and code clearances.
- Produce annotated and dimensioned shop drawings, spool assemblies, and fabrication documents.
- Communicate effectively with project stakeholders, sharing progress and challenges.
- Manage and process requests for information and shop drawing updates.
- Identify gaps or deficiencies and propose timely solutions.
- Create As-Built condition drawings for completed projects.
- Deliver all documents on schedule and within budgeted drafting hours.
- Actively pursue skill development and maintain a positive, proactive attitude.
Requirements
- High school diploma or GED.
- Minimum 5 years of experience in Mechanical Piping trades or design with Revit 2019 or AutoCAD.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience using Autodesk Fabrication CADmep software.
- Proficiency in layout and sizing of mechanical piping.
- Associate's degree in drafting or a similar field.
- Ability to visualize 3D layouts from 2D drawings.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
- Ability to read and interpret architectural and structural documents.
- Strong communication skills and the ability to work independently or as part of a team.
- Detail-oriented, deadline-driven, and professional in appearance and conduct.
- Proficient with Windows-based software, word processing, spreadsheets, and databases.
