The Instructional Designer is responsible for creating engaging and effective learning experiences by designing and developing course curricula, utilizing instructional design theories, collaborating with subject matter experts, and leveraging technology to produce multimedia learning materials. This role ensures the creation of high-quality training programs that support business objectives and facilitate knowledge acquisition for diverse audiences.
Duties and Responsibilities:
Needs Analysis & Course Development
- Identify training needs and learning objectives by collaborating with stakeholders.
- Develop and assess learning objectives aligned with organizational goals.
- Design course structures, instructional materials, and learning activities (e-learning, instructor-led, and blended).
- Create interactive activities, assignments, assessments, presentations, and videos.
- Ensure alignment of training programs with business strategies.
Content Creation & Collaboration
- Write scripts, develop storyboards, and edit existing content to enhance clarity and effectiveness.
- Work closely with subject matter experts (SMEs) to ensure accuracy and relevance of course content.
- Research and integrate new instructional technologies into course design.
- Maintain project documentation and organize course materials.
Technology Integration & Learning Management System (LMS) Administration
- Select and utilize appropriate learning management systems (LMS) and authoring tools for online course delivery.
- Manage LMS functions, including student rosters and progress tracking.
- Implement multimedia tools, simulations, and interactive learning experiences.
Evaluation & Continuous Improvement
- Monitor learner progress, collect feedback, and adjust course materials accordingly.
- Evaluate and revise existing instructional content to maintain its effectiveness and relevance.
- Utilize adult learning theories and best practices to create learner-centered experiences.
Skills and Qualifications
- Minimum two years of experience in instructional design, content development, or content management.
- Bachelor's degree in Instructional Design, Education, or a related field (preferred).
- Experience in training facilitation (both virtual and in-person).
- Strong knowledge of instructional design models (e.g., ADDIE) and adult learning theories.
- Proficiency in course development tools (e.g., Articulate Storyline, Adobe Captivate, Camtasia).
- Familiarity with Adobe Photoshop, Illustrator, or Dreamweaver.
- Experience with LMS platforms and online course development.
- Basic understanding of HTML, Flash, and multimedia design principles.
- Strong project management skills with the ability to manage multiple projects.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Experience with virtual training platforms (Teams, Zoom, Webex, etc.).
- Strong analytical, critical thinking, and problem-solving skills.
