Our client, Princeton University, is seeking a Media Relations Specialist. The Media Relations Specialist plays a key role in content creation and editorial development for two websites: the public website and the employee website. This position is responsible for writing and managing website content, promoting and covering Facilities events, and supporting various special projects.

This is a full time, in person and temp position.

Job Type: Contract (Mar-Nov)

Schedule: Monday - Friday

Pay Rate: $46/hr

Key Responsibilities

  • Develop and write at least one feature story per month highlighting a Facilities team member, project, or achievement, in alignment with the editorial calendar.
  • Curate and design an engaging monthly employee newsletter using Constant Contact, along with a print edition.
  • Edit and format a quarterly construction newsletter using Constant Contact.
  • Cover Facilities events such as Bring Your Child to Work Day, staff appreciation events, and other internal gatherings.
  • Review, edit, and oversee the approval process for promotional content requests submitted to Facilities Communications.
  • Assist in managing media relations inquiries and projects.
  • Collaborate with freelance photographers and videographers to enhance digital storytelling, or independently capture photos of events, staff, and projects.
  • Promote internal Facilities events and updates through various communication channels, including posters, newsletters, websites, and digital monitors.
  • Maintain an organized workflow for cataloging and managing photo and video assets.
  • Support the Manager of Communications & Business Projects in updating and maintaining content across Facilities-managed websites.

Required Qualifications

  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Proficiency in communication tools and software, including Microsoft Word, web content management systems, Constant Contact, Adobe Suite, and Canva.
  • Ability to work both independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced environment.
  • Adaptability and willingness to learn new tools and processes.
  • Experience with digital asset management, including organization, storage, and retrieval.
  • Strong project management, organizational, and time-management skills to meet tight deadlines.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Photography skills.
  • Experience with Drupal, Photoshop, and video/photo management and editing tools.
