First Look - SEO Content Strategist:

The Arena Group is seeking an energetic, organized and accomplished SEO Content Strategist who excels in a team-based, collaborative operation and is comfortable working in a high-paced environment. The SEO Content Strategist will help develop, manage and drive audience strategy and growth for several properties in collaboration with the broader audience team. The ideal candidate should be proactive and able to participate in editorial strategy and the ideation process and have interest in sports and sports-related content, business stories, financial news, and automotive news.

The Arena Group's expected annualized base salary range for this position is currently $100,000 - $125,000. Actual salaries will vary based on multiple factors including location, education, experience and other factors permitted by law. The listed salary range is but one component of The Arena Group's total compensation and benefits available to its employees. What You'll Do:

  • Guide editorial teams on best practices for on-page elements, including titles, meta descriptions, internal linking, headers, and structured data to improve organic reach.
  • Build and maintain regular weekly, monthly, and quarterly reporting focused on editorial performance, content analytics and traffic trends to the edit team and other key stakeholders.
  • Provide insights and partner closely with edit to help them understand audiences across all distribution sources by analyzing traffic and content trends.
  • Get hands-on with the edit team, providing both evergreen and timely SEO content recommendations, as well as vetting content calendars and providing daily improvements to content prior to publishing.
  • Analyze real-time audience trends to help identify and acquire new audiences by creating and optimizing campaigns in partnership with Editorial and the broader Audience Development team, leveraging audience data from platforms like Parsley, Google Analytics, and Google Trends.
  • Perform rigorous technical SEO audits, identifying issues related to site architecture, crawlability, indexability, accessibility, and page speed, and work closely with product and engineering teams to implement solutions.
  • Identify new opportunities to drive referral traffic through innovative content distribution and optimization tactics.
  • Alerting content teams to needed evergreen content updates.
What You'll Bring:
  • 7-10 years of SEO experience, preferably in a media, publishing, or content-driven environment.
  • Strong analytical expertise with a proven record of using data-driven methods to significantly increase organic traffic and engagement.
  • Expertise in keyword research, content optimization, and competitive analysis using tools such as Google Analytics, Google Search Console, Ahrefs, SEMRush, Lumar, or Screaming Frog.
  • Advanced understanding of SEO factors including URL structures, meta titles, headers, site structure, crawlability, indexability, accessibility, page speed optimization, and schema markup.
  • Proven track record of working with product teams to identify and fix technical SEO problems and implement best practices.
  • Deep understanding of Google Discover and best practices to improve user intent, impressions, and CTR.
  • Strong experience in analyzing content performance and audience behaviors related to the world of sports, business, finance and automotive.
  • General fluency in all things social media and the major platforms (Facebook, Instagram, Twitter, Pinterest, TikTok), including general best practices for each major platform
  • Collaborative team player with exceptional attention to detail, organizational skills, and ability to synthesize complex data into actionable insights.
