Broken English Jewelry is seeking a Freelance/Contact Jewelry Designer to work with the CEO and be responsible for conceptualizing and creating unique jewelry pieces, from initial design through production. This role requires a blend of artistic creativity and technical expertise to produce designs that are both innovative and commercially viable. The ideal candidate will have a strong portfolio, be proficient in modem design software, and possess a keen understanding of current fashion trends and material properties.
Key Responsibilities
Design & Conceptualization:
Conduct trend research and market forecasting to inform design direction.
Develop mood boards, color palettes, and initial design concepts that are both creative and
commercially viable.
Design & Product Development:
Utilize advanced design tools such as hand sketching, 3D modeling (Rhino, Matrix), and
digital rendering (Keyshot, Photoshop) to bring your designs to life.
Prepare detailed technical drawings, specifications (Tech Packs), and CADs for production,
ensuring all elements are aligned with the desired aesthetic and functional requirements.
Collaborate with outside product development teams and overseas vendors to ensure designs are interpreted accurately and efficiently during the production process.
Collaboration & Cross-Functional Work:
Work closely with inside/outside marketing, merchandising, and sales teams to ensure designs align with market trends, seasonal campaigns, and brand strategy.
Provide insight and feedback on prototypes and physical samples to ensure quality and
adherence to design specifications.
Creative Direction & Innovation:
Utilize your understanding of jewelry craftsmanship, materials, and manufacturing
techniques to create unique and high-quality designs.
Bring a fresh perspective to the team, constantly pushing boundaries while maintaining
attention to detail and brand consistency.
Required Skills & Qualifications:
Bachelor's degree in Jewelry Design, Industrial Design, or a related field. (SCAD or a similar
prestigious design institution is highly desirable)
Strong proficiency in design software such as Adobe Illustrator, Rhino, Matrix, and
Photos hop.
Proven experience in jewelry design, including hand sketching, technical drawings, and
digital rendering.
In-depth knowledge of gemstones, precious metals, and advanced jewelry-making
techniques.
Familiarity with 3D modeling and rendering software, particularly Rhino and Keyshot.
Strong conceptual skills, with the ability to create mood boards, select materials, and
forecast trends.
Excellent communication and organizational skills, with the ability to work both
independently and collaboratively.
A keen eye for detail, craftsmanship, and innovation in product design.
