Who You Are:
As the Director of Womens Accessories, you bring extensive experience in handbag design and have a proven ability to conceptualize and build cohesive product lines. Your energetic and collaborative nature, combined with strong communication skills, helps you drive results in fast-paced environments. You are both curious and adaptable, with a talent for inspiring and motivating a team of designers to achieve success.
What Youll Do:
Translate the Michael Kors aesthetic into product designs.
Collaborate with the VP to identify seasonal themes and direction.
Oversee the conceptualization and creation of handbag designs each season.
Work with the materials team to select seasonal materials.
Manage the entire product design process, including market research, mood board creation, sketching, specing, and functionality.
Research global markets for emerging trends, materials, and techniques.
Actively contribute to the development of innovative product lines, presenting ideas and convincing others to adopt them.
Provide recommendations for seasonal themes, line edits, and new concepts.
Ensure that product is consistent with market trends as well as business strategy; interpret international/domestic concepts and fashion trends as it relates to market demands, company image and business strategy.
Partner with cross functional divisions to achieve consistency in product across categories. Communicate any changes and lead the themes per season for accessories.
Manage technical designs from conception to production.
Responsible for leather selection.
Identify opportunities for process improvements.
Build and manage a team, providing guidance and nurturing talent.
Youll Need to Have:
10+ years design experience
Design school training
Expert design and conceptual skills for Handbags
Proficiency with Adobe Illustrator and Photoshop
Skills to multitask and manage competing calendar deadlines
The ability to set a creative tone and to inspire ideas/new concepts
Excellent organizational, time management, communication, and presentation skills
In-depth knowledge of silhouettes, fabrication, color ways, construction techniques, leather and trim
Strong leadership skills
