JOB SUMMARY / DESCRIPTION
The Technical Writer will create and maintain documentation for a wide variety of retail technology products. The primary content created in this position will include user-facing documentation such as help files, quick start guides, installation guides, and user manuals. Internal facing documentation will also fall under the responsibility of this position. The Technical Writer will work as part of a cross-functional team that includes other documentation specialists, interface designers, software developers, quality assurance technicians, and technical support analysts.
RESPONSIBILITIES Develop and maintain usable documentation for a variety of products and services. Collaborate with other technical writers to produce and deliver usable content. Collaborate with quality assurance specialists, developers, and designers to understand the intricacies of the retail products and services. Test and improve the documentation over time so that it better accommodates users' informational needs. QUALIFICATIONS
Ability to produce high quality product documentation in an agile environment. Willingness to learn and understand unfamiliar technologies, and to articulate their use appropriately to users. Ability to explain complex technology in a simple and clear manner. Ability to critique one's own writing, as well as the writing of others. Ability to accept constructive criticism about one's own writing, and to improve output accordingly. Professional experience and/or academic training in technical writing is strongly preferred. Excellent written communication skills. Ability to prioritize and multitask.
