YOUR PURPOSE

The Marketing Communications Manager at Horizon Credit Union leads a dynamic creative services team to deliver impactful marketing and member communications. This role is critical in shaping and maintaining the credit union's visual identity, ensuring consistent messaging and creative excellence across all channels. As a strategic part of the Marketing Department, the Marketing Communications Manager oversees the development and execution of visual content that drives member engagement, enhances brand visibility, and supports Horizon Credit Union's marketing efforts to effectively communicate our products, services, and community impact. The manager also focuses on building workflow and efficient processes that ensure timely delivery of high-quality creative assets, while actively coaching and developing staff to enhance skills, foster growth and maintain a high level of team performance.

YOU ARE RESPONSIBLE FOR

Project Management
  • Lead the planning, execution, and delivery of visual communication and marketing projects that support Horizon Credit Union's strategic goals.
  • Utilize project management software to streamline workflows, assign tasks, track progress, and manage timelines and resources, ensuring timely delivery of high-quality creative projects aligned with brand standards.
  • Analyze performance data to refine visual content and marketing strategies for improved member engagement and campaign effectiveness.
  • Collaborate closely with digital marketing, community engagement and other stakeholder teams to ensure cohesive and consistent messaging across all channels.

Creative Direction & Brand Management
  • Spearhead the development of visual communication strategies that reinforce the credit union's brand identity and core values.
  • Ensure visual assets across all channels adhere to brand guidelines and communicate a cohesive, member-centric message.
  • Provide guidance and feedback to the graphic design team, ensuring creative excellence across all marketing materials.
  • Stay informed on industry trends, design technologies, and best practices to continuously evolve the credit union's visual identity.

Team Leadership & Development
  • Manage and mentor a team of graphic designers and copywriters, fostering a collaborative, high-performance work environment that promotes creativity, accountability, and continuous improvement.
  • Provide ongoing coaching helping team members grow in their roles and align their skills with evolving industry trends and Horizon Credit Union's strategic goals.
  • Build a culture of feedback and constructive communication, ensuring that team members have the support they need to excel in both their individual contributions and as a cohesive unit.
  • Ensure the team is equipped with the tools, resources, and technology needed to optimize productivity, streamline workflows, and maintain high-quality output across all projects.
  • Foster an environment that encourages innovation and cross-departmental collaboration, ensuring that the creative team contributes to strategic discussions and plays a key role in shaping a robust, forward-thinking marketing department.

Workflow Process
  • Streamline and optimize the design team's workflow to ensure smooth project execution, reduce bottlenecks, and increase productivity.
  • Continuously evaluate, develop, improve, and implement standardized creative workflows and team processes to align with organizational needs and project goals.
  • Build and refine systems for project tracking, asset management, and team collaboration to ensure seamless communication, accountability, and deliverability across projects.

Marketing Compliance & Stakeholder Collaboration
  • Foster a culture of compliance within the creative services team by raising awareness and ensuring each team member understands their responsibility in upholding marketing regulations.
  • Collaborate closely with compliance teams to provide the Marketing Department with the tools, training, and insights needed to seamlessly incorporate regulatory requirements into all marketing materials.
  • Continuously monitor changes in financial marketing regulations and proactively refine marketing strategies to ensure sustained compliance and minimize potential risks.

Member Communications & Engagement
  • Oversee member communication strategy, execution, and delivery across all channels, ensuring consistent, clear, informative, and engaging messaging.
  • Develop and manage comprehensive communication plans that support credit union projects, marketing projects, stakeholder projects and external communications.
  • Use member insights and performance analytics to refine messaging and increase engagement across multiple communication channels.
  • In collaboration with others, support Horizon Credit Union's public relations needs, providing strategic communication support to position the credit union as a trusted and reliable voice during critical moments.

Budget & Vendor Management
  • Assist in managing the Marketing Department's annual budget, ensuring resources are allocated efficiently and projects are completed within financial constraints.
  • Administer vendor relationships to ensure timely delivery of production materials while staying within budget and maintaining quality standards.
  • Provide support to paid media initiatives as needed and ensure the timely submission of all advertising materials to those partners.
  • Manage Horizon's online collateral store, ensuring all materials are up-to-date, accurate, and accessible to stakeholders across the organization.

COMPENSATION

Our pay values are reflected in our compensation philosophy which rewards individual performance and the potential to contribute to our teams' overall success long-term.

The full pay range for this position across all the states in which we hire is $81,034-$125,603. The figures shown represent the minimum and maximum of the range for this role. Individual offers are made dependent upon a candidate's experience, education, and skill level.

Requirements

EXPERTISE YOU NEED

Education & Experience

Bachelor's degree in marketing, Graphic Design, Communications or a closely related field. More than 5 years of experience in marketing or a closely related field. Credit union or financial services experience highly preferred but not required. May consider an equivalent combination of education and work experience.

Capabilities
  • Demonstratable experience managing a team of creative professionals, providing direction, fostering development, and driving high performance.
  • Proven ability to manage and lead multiple marketing projects simultaneously with a focus on delivering quality results on time.
  • Strong expertise in branding, design principles, multimedia content creation, and communication strategies.
  • Ability to simplify complex financial topics into clear, compelling messages.
  • Exceptional leadership, communication, and collaboration skills.
  • Strong understanding and experience using project management software and tools to manage and streamline creative projects from conception to completion.
  • Demonstrates a proactive approach to identifying areas for process optimization, seeking opportunities to enhance team efficiency, elevate creative output, and stay ahead of industry trends through ongoing learning and innovation.
  • Proficient in Adobe Creative Suite and other design tools is preferred but not required.
  • Experience with web administration and digital content management is preferred but not required.
