We are currently seeking experienced Outside-Plant (OSP) Field Designers/Stakers to join our team. In collaboration with the engineering design team, these roles will involve performing field engineering and staking to develop final construction plans for FTTx build-outs. Key responsibilities include planning, designing, documenting, and obtaining permits for new construction of buried, underground, and aerial outside plant facilities.

Description
We are currently seeking experienced Outside-Plant (OSP) Field Designers/Stakers to join our team. In collaboration with the engineering design team, these roles will involve performing field engineering and staking to develop final construction plans for FTTx build-outs. Key responsibilities include planning, designing, documenting, and obtaining permits for new construction of buried, underground, and aerial outside plant facilities.
Responsibilities & Duties
- Site surveying & staking of new FTTx infrastructure using an integrated GIS platform.
- Geo-accurate design of proposed fiber lines and facility locations, splicing schematics, and all final construction units in GIS
- Coordinating with the client to define specifications & preferred construction methods for FTTx buildout.
- Coordinating with local DOT during the permit application process to ensure all plans conform to local & state regulations.
- Coordinating with construction Project Managers to ensure timely scheduling of final design deliverables and ordering of construction materials.
- Coordinating with existing utilities on aerial pole Make-Ready
- Overseeing upcoming Fiber-to-the-Premise (FTTP) projects.
- Staking outside plant (OSP) projects based on an engineering design.
- Accurately documenting existing measurements and proposed placements.
- Creating hand-drawn or computer-aided design (CAD) sketches of recommended engineering plans while in the field, making notations of land conditions and other relevant structures or landmarks.
- Accurately depicting new construction route opportunities on work prints/staking sheets.
- Determining the ideal location for new above- and below-ground facilities and equipment.
- Supervising Outside Plant Inspectors.
- Ensuring engineering plans and specifications are being followed accordingly.
- Accurately recording units placed each day.
- Working alongside clients and contractors to ensure a project's success.
- Tasks as assigned by the manager.
Education:
- High school diploma or GED.
- Experience with OSP Telecom Engineering processes and practices, including practical application in the field, is desired.
- Previous experience leading FTTh Inspection teams.
- Working knowledge of RUS practices and terminology is desired.
- Ability to read and understand maps, drawings, and diagrams for telecom facilities construction.
- Intermediate skills in Microsoft Office programs and Adobe Acrobat.
- Working knowledge of Google Earth/Maps.
- Working knowledge of GIS, including ArcGIS/QGIS/Google Earth, etc.
- Experience using Q-Field, FieldMaps, Vitruvi, and Vetro smart device applications.
- Working knowledge of RUS standards and terminology.
- Ability to read and understand maps, drawings, and diagrams for Telecom/FFTx OSP construction.
- Proficient skills in Microsoft Office programs and Adobe Acrobat.
- Highly organized, self-starter, and detail-oriented.
- Excellent verbal and written interpersonal communication skills.
- Superior time management and strong attention to detail.
- Must perform repetitive physical motions of bending, standing, climbing, and walking on uneven terrain. (You will be exposed to various weather conditions)

Travel:
- Traveling for extended periods.
- Must have your own vehicle and be willing to travel 100% of the time.
- You may be asked to switch locations during your employment with us to accommodate our project needs. You will be expected to go where the projects are located across the US.
