The Communications Designer plays a critical role in supporting the marketing and branding efforts at Carrier Johnson + Culture. This position seamlessly bridges administrative and creative tasks, combining versatility with a passion for problem-solving and design. The role involves creating visually compelling marketing materials, developing environmental graphic design (EGD) solutions, and managing content and creation for both internal and external communications. This position requires exceptional organizational skills and the ability to deliver high-quality outputs that align with the firm's strategic goals.

Key Responsibilities

Creative and Marketing Design:

  • Collaborate with leadership, business development, and project teams to produce visually engaging proposals, RFQs, and qualification packages aligned with branding guidelines.
  • Design marketing collateral, including brochures, presentations, flyers, advertisements, and award submissions, using graphic design software.
  • Create digital content, such as graphics and multimedia, for the firm's website, social media, and email campaigns, focusing on enhancing brand awareness and engagement.
  • Develop and coordinate marketing campaigns, internal/external communications, and advertisements to meet strategic objectives.
Content Management and Coordination:
  • Maintain an up-to-date library of creative materials, ensuring consistent messaging and quick response to requests.
  • Maintain current personnel resumes, project descriptions, and other qualifications documents in partnership with technical staff.
  • Assist with proposal development for RFP/RFQs and award submittals, ensuring adherence to guidelines.
Project Coordination:
  • Organize and prioritize multiple projects, ensuring deadlines are met without compromising quality.
  • Perform quality control reviews of marketing deliverables for accuracy and alignment with RFP guidelines.
  • Develop marketing materials for conferences, trade shows, speaking engagements, and other promotional opportunities.
Strategic Insights and Industry Engagement:
  • Stay informed about industry news, best practices, and trends to ensure the firms marketing materials remain relevant and competitive.
  • Support internal communications and ensure all deliverables are on-brand and client-focused.
Environmental Graphic Design (EGD):
  • Design and implement EGD solutions, such as signage, wayfinding systems, and branded environments, in collaboration with architects and interior designers.
  • Manage EGD projects, including budgeting, scheduling, vendor coordination, and quality control.
Job Requirements and Preferences
  • Education: Bachelor's degree in graphic design, Visual Communication, Marketing, or a related field.
  • Experience: 1-2 years of marketing, proposal/qualifications development, or design experience, preferably in the AEC industry.
  • Technical Skills: Proficiency in Adobe Creative Suite (InDesign, Photoshop, Illustrator), Microsoft Office Suite, and familiarity with AI tools. Working knowledge of information management systems like Deltek VantagePoint or OpenAsset is a plus.
  • Design Expertise: Strong graphic design skills with an understanding of typography, layout composition, color theory, and visual storytelling. Experience in EGD, including knowledge of materials, fabrication processes, and installation methods.
  • Soft Skills: Exceptional organizational skills, strong interpersonal abilities, and the capacity to manage multiple projects in a fast-paced environment.
Reporting Structure

The Communications Designer | Design Coordinator reports to a senior member of the marketing team and collaborates closely with business development, design, and project management teams.
