Job Description:
The University of Florida's Harn Museum of Art is seeking an experienced Multimedia Specialist to join our dynamic team. As a Multimedia Specialist, you will play a pivotal role in creating visually compelling digital content that enhances the museum's visitor experience and online presence.
Key Responsibilities:
Production & Content Creation:
- Photograph and prepare high-quality images of 2D and 3D artworks from the museum's collection, ensuring accessibility through digital platforms.
- Coordinate and execute photography and videography for programs, exhibitions, events, merchandise, etc.
- Implement metadata standards and taxonomy to improve content accessibility and searchability.
- Maintain accurate copyright information and metadata for images and videos in Digital Asset Management System (DAMS).
- Research and recommend new equipment, software, and video techniques to enhance visual communication.
- Manage inventory, calibration, and maintenance of photography equipment and supplies.
- Lead multimedia production projects from concept development to final execution, ensuring alignment with museum objectives.
- Collaborate with museum departments to assess multimedia needs and propose creative solutions for visitor engagement, employee onboarding, and staff training.
- Manage production timelines, budgets, and resource allocation for timely and cost-effective content delivery.
- Supervise and mentor photography interns, providing guidance on technical skills and project workflow.

Preferred Qualifications:
- Demonstrated knowledge of Adobe suite of products.
- Comprehensive knowledge of digital photography, professional lighting equipment and techniques, and best post-production practices.
- Thorough understanding of color matching and color calibration.
- Experience with digital asset management software (DAMS)
- Previous experience working in a museum or gallery
- Excellent communication, time management and organizational skills
- Demonstrated ability to meet deadlines
- Ability to organize multiple tasks simultaneously at a high level of performance, accuracy and speed.
- Self-directed, organized, ability to work independently.
- Familiarity with social media platforms.
- Familiarity with best practices relevant to photography involving intellectual property and copyright, and privacy concerns
