Position Overview:
We are seeking an IT Technical Writer to create clear, concise, and accurate documentation that translates complex technical concepts into user-friendly materials. The ideal candidate will work closely with subject matter experts, IT teams, and stakeholders to develop various technical documents, presentations, and reports. This role is remote, but preference will be given to candidates based in North Carolina.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Develop and maintain technical documentation, including user manuals, system documentation, cybersecurity best practices, and troubleshooting guides.
  • Create clear and engaging presentation materials to communicate complex cybersecurity and IT concepts.
  • Work collaboratively with IT and security teams to ensure technical accuracy in all written materials.
  • Edit and proofread documents to ensure clarity, consistency, and adherence to style guidelines.
  • Generate reports, summaries, and executive briefings based on cybersecurity trends, risk assessments, and policy changes.
  • Develop newsletters and content highlighting IT security updates, vulnerabilities, and mitigation strategies.
  • Conduct research to stay up to date with evolving industry standards, cybersecurity frameworks, and IT policies.

Basic Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's degree in English, Communications, Journalism, Information Technology, or a related field.
  • 7+ years of experience in technical writing, preferably in cybersecurity or IT-related fields.
  • Strong proficiency in Microsoft Office tools such as Word, PowerPoint, Excel, Visio, and Forms.
  • Excellent grammar, writing, and editing skills with a focus on technical accuracy.
  • Experience collaborating with IT and cybersecurity professionals to document complex concepts.

Additional Qualifications:
  • Knowledge of cybersecurity standards such as NIST, FISMA, or MITRE ATT&CK is a plus.
  • Familiarity with security frameworks and compliance documentation.
  • Experience with graphics and visualization tools to enhance technical documentation.
  • Certifications such as Security+ or related IT security certifications are a plus.
  • Strong communication skills with the ability to present technical concepts to non-technical audiences.

This position is onsite at the Thurgood Marshall Federal Judiciary Building in Washington, D.C. Telework may be considered on a case-by-case basis with approval from the Contracting Officer's Representative (COR) and appropriate Government Task Leads (GTLs).
