Job Description

SUMMARY
Effectively manage the Exceptional Education learning environment to prepare lesson plans, provide specialized instruction, evaluate, monitor, and collect data on the students' performance in order to advance student achievement. Understand and appreciate diversity. Work collaboratively with a team to plan instruction. Demonstrate commitment to continuous learning. The Exceptional Education Teacher will complete required case management duties.

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS

Arizona Elementary Certificate with Music K-12 Endorsement
OR
Arizona Secondary Certificate with Music Approved Area OR Music K-12 Endorsement
OR
Arizona Subject Matter Expert Certificate 6-12 with Music Approved Area
OR

Standard Professional PK-12 Music Certificate

OR
Arizona Arts Education - Music PreK-12 Certificate
Structured English Immersion (SEI) Endorsement
Appropriate Special Education Endorsement/Approved Area
Arizona IVP Fingerprint Clearance Card

PREFERRED REQUIREMENTS
Demonstrated success in engaging African American and Latino students
Bilingual (Spanish) endorsement
Cross Categorical Certification is Preferred

ADDITIONAL REQUIREMENTS AFTER HIRE
Proof of immunity to rubeola (measles) and rubella (German measles), or proof of MMR immunization.

Valid Driver's License

MVReport - showing no more than the allowable points against Driver's License as described under Governing Board Policy: EEB-R-1 Business and Personnel Transportation Services - Transportation by Employees.
Reliable mode of personal transportation with evidence of insurance compliance greater than or equal to the state required minimum for car insurance as described under Governing Board Policy: EEB-R-1 Business and Personnel Transportation Services - Transportation by Employees

COMMENTS
Effective: 2024-2025 SCHOOL YEAR
LOCATION: Exceptional Education Department - Sites vary
FTE : 1.0 - 7.5 hours per day
Work Calendar: 9.5 month

Positions less than 30 hours per week are not eligible for district benefits.

Internal candidates will transfer at a rate commensurate with their bargaining unit language. For more information on salary schedule, please reference the Employee Agreements Webpage .

New Teachers to the District may be eligible for a one-time recruitment stipend (up to $5,000) if hired into one of the following positions: Ex Ed, Math, Science.

Probationary Contracts will be issued for any contingent Certifications, Positions that are 0.6 FTE or less, and certified employees within their first three years with the District.
