Description
The Village School of Naples is seeking an enthusiastic, innovative, and skilled Beginning Music Instructor and Small Ensemble Director to develop and lead the school's beginning music program with a special focus on small ensembles. The ideal candidate will have a passion for music education, the ability to cultivate a love of music in young musicians, and the creativity to design and lead engaging lessons and performances for both larger groups and smaller ensembles. This position offers an exciting opportunity to build a strong music program that fosters individual musicianship while encouraging collaboration and teamwork. (This position is for the 2025-2026 School year.)
Design and implement a dynamic beginning music curriculum that includes instruction in music theory, basic instrument techniques, and performance skills. Create opportunities for students to participate in small ensemble performances. Lead and direct small ensembles, helping students develop skills in collaboration, sight-reading, and musical interpretation across various genres and styles. Teach fundamental instrumental techniques, music theory, and ensemble performance skills. Monitor and assess student progress, providing individualized feedback to help students achieve their musical goals. Tailor teaching methods to address the unique needs of each student. Plan and organize school concerts, recitals, and other musical events. Foster a positive, inclusive, and collaborative classroom environment where students feel encouraged to explore their musical potential. Work closely with the Performing Arts Team to ensure alignment with the overall arts curriculum and school goals. Collaborate with colleagues to enrich the overall musical experience for students. Collaborate with colleagues to integrate music into interdisciplinary projects and school-wide initiatives. Communicate regularly with parents regarding student progress and upcoming events. Support the mission and vision of The Village School, modeling Christ Skills and values in all areas of teaching and professional conduct. Requirements
Bachelor's degree in Music Education or a related field (Master's degree preferred). Proficiency in teaching and performing with various instruments. Previous experience teaching beginner music students and directing small ensembles is preferred. Strong knowledge of music theory, instrumentation, and repertoire for beginners and small ensembles. Familiarity with current music education methodologies and technologies. Strong classroom management skills and the ability to inspire and motivate students. Excellent communication and organizational skills. Commitment to fostering creativity, teamwork, and a passion for music in students. Ability to work collaboratively with colleagues and contribute to the school's arts program.
