Position Description

The Standing Committee on Degrees in Theater, Dance & Media (TDM) seeks applications for a Lecturer on Contemporary Global Performance. The appointment is expected to begin on July 1, 2025. The lecturer will teach two classes per semester at the undergraduate level. This position is a three-year appointment, with the second and third years being contingent upon satisfactory performance reviews. Responsibilities include: •Develop and teach comprehensive, foundational courses in TDM that engage students in research, theory, forms & practice of contemporary global performance. •Develop and teach courses exploring the global histories of performance, including experimental practices; performance curation; folk, local and popular performance traditions; international performance art with an emphasis on domains beyond Western constructs. •Participate in amplifying departmental mission by ideating, organizing and facilitating cross-campus activities such as special events, masterclasses, and talks, as well as serving on TDM and University committees. •Advise, evaluate and provide feedback on senior theses. •Engage in campus and student life, including holding regular office hours, on-campus presence, and mentoring.

Basic Qualifications

Ph.D or terminal degree or equivalent experience as a practitioner of contemporary global performance.

Additional Qualifications

Proficiency in a diversity of forms or theories of performance. Curatorial knowledge, second-language and/or field research preferred. A demonstrated, strong commitment to teaching is encouraged.

Optional: A link to one or two representative samples of creative/professional work from the past five years (no more than 10 minutes total), with a brief description of each project.
