What will you be doing in this role:
- Build, maintain, and evolve Cedars-Sinai's design system, Catalyst, including design tokens, reusable components, wireframing components, design patterns, and style guides to ensure consistent digital experiences.
- Ensure Catalyst remains flexible, consistent, and scalable to accommodate the evolving needs of various digital products and design teams.
- Maintain up-to-date documentation, usage guidelines, and component libraries, supporting designers and developers in adopting and implementing the system effectively.
- Partner with product designers, engineers, UX writers, and other stakeholders to ensure Catalyst is seamlessly integrated into product development workflows.
- Facilitate workshops, training sessions, and presentations to educate team members on using the design system and best practices for implementation.
- Lead all aspects of quality checks to ensure consistent implementation of design components and patterns across digital products.
- Regularly audit the system and gather feedback to improve accessibility, usability, and compliance with industry standards.
- Stay ahead of industry trends in design systems, Atomic Design, and Figma advancements to ensure Catalyst remains innovative.
Qualifications
Experience Requirements:
- Five (5) plus years of experience in Figma, including design system management, component creation, and prototyping. Strong system organization, versioning experience, and Figma administration skills.
- Deep understanding of Design Tokens and Atomic Design principles with experience applying them for an Enterprise design system.
- Strong visual design skills, with a demonstrated ability to create and maintain icon libraries, illustration styles, and cohesive design elements that improve Catalyst’s visual language.
- Experience working closely with engineers to bridge the gap between design and development. Proficiency & knowledge in front-end technologies (HTML, React, CSS, JavaScript frameworks, Storybook).
- Experience with accessibility standards (e.g., WCAG) and ability to design systems that are inclusive and accessible to all users.
- Experience with design system documentation and additional project management tools (e.g., Jira, Confluence, Asana).
Educational Requirements:
- High School Diploma/GED.
- Bachelor’s degree in Graphic Design, Media Arts or related field (preferred).
