The Role

We’re looking for a skilled Manager of Web Design & Development to lead our web team and drive outstanding eCommerce experiences for our clients. This role requires a strong background in both Shopify development and Shopify design and the ability to manage a team of developers, designers, and a Web Project Manager.

You will be responsible for delegating tasks, optimizing resource allocation, and ensuring high-quality project execution. You will also play a key role in client discovery, project proposals, strategic direction, quality assurance, team training, and overall team development. You will play a vital role in supporting the ongoing expansion of the Professional Services department and will report directly to the VP of Professional Services at DRINKS. DRINKS is home-based in Los Angeles; however, we are a remote-first company.

What You’ll Do

  • Manage and mentor a team of Shopify developers, Shopify designers, and a Web Project Manager.
  • Oversee task delegation and resource allocation to ensure efficient project execution.
  • Provide training, guidance, and career development opportunities for team members.
  • Lead discovery sessions with clients to understand project goals, scope, and requirements.
  • Develop project proposals and recommend strategic solutions tailored to client needs.
  • Direct project execution, ensuring alignment with best practices in Shopify development and design.
  • Collaborate cross-functionally with marketing, lifecycle, and tech teams to optimize eCommerce performance.
  • Quality Assurance & Optimization
    • Oversee testing and quality assurance to ensure Shopify builds meet performance and UX standards.
    • Identify and resolve potential issues in development and design before deployment.
    • Continuously improve Shopify workflows, processes, and project management efficiencies.

About You

  • 5+ years of experience in Shopify development and/or Shopify design.
  • Experience managing and mentoring a Shopify-focused web team.
  • Proven leader with the ability to communicate clearly, openly, and transparently with team members, superiors, and other stakeholders.
  • Delegate tasks appropriately to leverage team members' strengths.
  • Strong understanding of Shopify Plus, Liquid, theme customization, and app integrations.
  • Experience with UX/UI best practices, conversion optimization, and performance optimization.
  • Experience with eCommerce strategy, Shopify app ecosystems, and third-party integrations.
  • Familiarity with Headless Commerce, Hydrogen, and Shopify's API capabilities.
  • Background in agency environments managing multiple Shopify projects simultaneously.
  • Adapt to changing circumstances and adjust strategies accordingly.
  • Ability to lead client discovery, develop project proposals, and define project roadmaps.
  • Strong organizational and problem-solving skills with a strategic mindset.
  • Maintain high ethical standards and integrity in all interactions.
  • Proven experience managing multiple tasks and priorities.
  • Experience working in a remote environment.

Primary Location: Los Angeles, CA.

Primary Location Compensation Range: $115,000-$140,000/yr.

Exact compensation may vary based on skills, experience, and location.
