Position Overview:
As a Senior Interior Designer at Duet Design Group, you will be pivotal in leading high-end residential and hospitality design projects from concept to completion. This position requires mastery of the Duet Design Group (DDG) design process, accountability for design documentation, and leadership in mentoring Junior Designers and Interns. Your ability to execute projects with precision, creativity, and professionalism will ensure the firm maintains its commitment to delivering exceptional client experiences.


This position emphasizes technical proficiency, leadership, and collaborative design while maintaining a client-focused approach. You will report directly to the Principal or a designated department head.


Mission:
To lead by example, mentor design team members, and deliver exceptional design outcomes. You will be accountable for producing accurate, timely, and high-quality design documentation while ensuring alignment with DDG’s vision and client expectations.


Core Responsibilities:

Leadership and Team Collaboration:

  1. Guided and mentored junior designers and interns, ensuring accurate and timely production of design documentation.
  2. Maintain a leadership presence by setting the standard for customer service, organization, and professionalism.
  3. Collaborate closely with Principals to align project goals and design direction.

Project Management and Execution:

  1. Manage the day-to-day tasks of the design team, ensuring processes are followed and deliverables are accurate.
  2. Own and execute the design process from programming to construction administration.
  3. Ensure the design process checklist is completed on time and all documentation meets required accuracy levels.

Design Documentation:

  1. Created and reviewed design documents, including AutoCAD drawings, interior specifications, budgets, and presentation materials.
  2. Lead the production of specification binders, design detail drawings, and documentation uploads for contractor collaboration.
  3. Produce project documentation with 95% accuracy, ensuring alignment with project goals and client expectations.

Client and Vendor Interaction:

  1. Attend client presentations, communicate design ideas, and address client feedback collaboratively with Principals.
  2. Demonstrate knowledge of vendors, including styles and price points, to ensure projects remain within budget and align with client preferences.
  3. Coordinate vendor and trade site visits with the Principal and Project Manager.

Project Phases:

1. Programming

  1. Lead site measurements and furniture/room inventory; input into AutoCAD.
  2. Attend programming meetings and collaborate on budget development.

2. Schematic Design

  1. Develop and organize floor plans, exhibit B, and client budget sheets.
  2. Create presentation materials, ensuring accuracy and alignment with deadlines.

3. Construction Documents

  1. Collaborate on fixed finish selections.
  2. Create comprehensive specification binders and upload them to shared platforms for contractor access.

4. Art and Accessories

  1. Collaborate on accessory inventory and procurement, aligning selections with client budgets.
  2. Provide storytelling documentation to enhance client understanding and engagement.

5. Installation

  1. Participate in installations as directed by the Principal or Project Manager.

Requirements:

  1. Bachelor’s degree in Interior Design, Architecture, or a related field.
  2. Minimum 7 years of professional experience in residential or hospitality interior design.
  3. Minimum 5 years of leadership experience in the design field.
  4. Demonstrated expertise in project execution from programming through construction administration.
  5. Proficiency in required technical programs: AutoCAD, Revit, Microsoft Office Suite, Studio Webware, Concept Board, and Microsoft Teams.
