DME Authorization Assistant
to join our dynamic team. This position is ideal for pre-PT and pre-OT students taking a gap year before graduate school and looking to gain valuable experience. In this role, you will play a key part in supporting our clinical teams by drafting and preparing documentation for DME (durable medical equipment). These authorizations are essential for improving the lives of individuals with brain and spinal cord injuries, and your work will directly impact their rehabilitation journey.
Responsibilities:
Draft and assist in the preparation of DME documentation, ensuring accuracy and compliance with healthcare regulations. Collaborate with physical therapists, occupational therapists, and other teams to gather relevant patient information for equipment justification. Review and organize patient documentation, ensuring all necessary details are included for DME submissions. Support the team with administrative tasks, including data entry and case coordination. Maintain patient confidentiality and adhere to HIPAA regulations. Communicate effectively with healthcare professionals to ensure smooth processing of DME authorizations. Contribute to process improvements and assist in other related tasks as needed. Qualifications:
Currently pursuing or planning to pursue a graduate degree in physical therapy, occupational therapy, or a related healthcare field. Strong written communication skills with attention to detail. Ability to work independently and as part of a team in a fast-paced environment. Organized, with excellent time management skills. A desire to learn and grow in a healthcare setting, particularly in the area of rehabilitation for individuals with spinal cord injuries or brain injuries. Previous experience or coursework in medical terminology or healthcare documentation is a plus, but not required. Certified to work in Nebraska as a nursing assistant. (required) We offer PAID training for the right candidate if you do not have your certification yet.
