What You’ll Do / A Day in The Life Typically Includes Marketing strategist responsible for the day-to-day activities of the corporate Marketing function including advertising, digital marketing, social media, promotions, events and sales support. Responsibilities Leads, inspires, manages, trains, and motivates Marketing personnel. Establish near and long-term marketing goals aligned with company priorities and initiatives. Generate innovative ideas to promote Baker & Taylor. Implement marketing plans, including promotional calendars and programs, new product introductions and other marketing projects. Supervises the production of marketing projects across print and digital mediums to ensure projects are completed on time, within budget, and achieve the expected results. Manage print and digital marketing channels, including websites and social media pages, ensuring brand consistency and strategic alignment. Consults and advises management across the business regarding marketing objectives, concepts, plans, project implementation, and results measurement. Makes recommendations for improving marketing impact. Collect and analyze industry and competitor information to understand the market, environment, needs, trends, and opportunities. Prepares the Marketing budget annually, analyzing and reporting on it monthly, and ensures expenses stay within or below budgeted amounts. Participates in Sales and Marketing staff meetings, tradeshows, conferences, and industry meetings as required. Manage agency providers, printers, freelancers and other suppliers, including contract negotiation and management. Travel Requirements Position requires overnight travel. Travels approximately 15% to conferences, partner sites, customer locations, and other company locations. Supervisory Responsibilities Manages 4 to 5 non-supervisory employees. Carries out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the organization's policies and applicable laws. Responsibilities include interviewing, hiring, and training employees; planning, assigning, and directing work; appraising performance; rewarding and disciplining employees; addressing complaints and resolving problems. Work Environment Hybrid work environment - 3 days in office (Tuesdays, Wednesdays & Thursdays). Physical Demands While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to talk and hear. Specific vision requirements include close vision in order to view PC/CRT and read written documents. Required Skills & Experience Bachelor's degree (MBA preferred) in Marketing or related field and 10 or more years marketing or advertising experience, in publishing or wholesale distribution, reflecting increasing responsibilities and project management in a B2B or B2B2C environment. 3 or more years’ experience in a supervisory role. Demonstrable experience in designing and implementing successful marketing campaigns. Strong understanding of how all current digital marketing channels function and knowledge of online marketing tools and best practices. Hands-on experience with Google Analytics and Sales Force Marketing Cloud (or similar CRM program). Excellent communication and presentation skills. Leadership and management expertise utilizing influence and persuasive methods. Ability to read, analyze, and interpret common scientific and technical journals, financial reports, and legal documents. Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as discounts, interest, commissions, and percentages. Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions; interpret an extensive variety of technical instructions in mathematical or diagram form; and deal with several abstract and concrete variables.
